Winter Wildcards Team 1 and 2 Tierlist
The Christmas season in FC24 is in full flow as Winter Wildcards is here. This is a massive promo where we see Daily SBCs, amazing new cards with position changes and 99 stats and finally, weak foot and skill move upgrades. Below is a Tierlist of all the new players in packs including the Winter Wildcards Icons.
God Tier:
Pele (96)- Of course this Pele card was going straight into God Tier. Easily the best card of the promo, so there isn’t much needed to say to prove that this is one of the best cards in the game. Pele has 5* skills and 19 90+ rated in-game stats. Just an incredible card.
Alexia Putellas (92)- Arguably the best CM in the game just got better. Already being 5* 5, Putellas has unbelievable stats and is so well-balanced. Her PlayStyles include Finesse Shot, Power Shot, Pinged Pass, Incisive pass and Tiki Taka+. She’s the perfect attacking CM in a 4-3-2-1 so congratulations if you pack her!
Virgil Van Dijk (91)- The pro players absolutely love using this man at the back, so you already know he’ll be expensive. Virgil is widely known as the best centre-back in the game, meaning any upgraded version of him will be immense. If you come up against this card in weekend league, I’m sure you’ll concede a few corners!
Cristiano Ronaldo (91)- A second special card for Cristiano Ronaldo this year, and it’s a big upgrade from his Trailblazers card. Ronaldo has a brilliant range of PlayStyles including, Finesse Shot, Power Header, Aerial, Trivela and Power Shot+. I can almost guarantee you’ll get bags of goals from crosses or corners with him up top.
Emilio Butragueno (90)- Butragueno has had a significant upgrade to 4* skills which is why this card is so expensive. His shooting may have downgraded, but his dribbling has been boosted and he is now a left-mid or a left-winger. A brilliant boost for the Spanish striker!
Fernando Torres (89)- This might sound very biased as Torres was my favourite player growing up, but I am a huge fan of this card. A 5* skill Fernando Torres is brilliant! He has great pace, exceptional finishing and his dribbling stats are very good as well. Torres also has Finesse Shot, Trivela and Power Header PlayStyles. What a fantastic card!
Very Good:
Didier Drogba (91)- Drogba is a very meta striker as he has Aerial+ and the Power Header PlayStyle. He has also been upgraded to a 5* weak foot which is a major benefit to this card. Drogba will definitely be expensive, but he’s got all the tools to an amazing striker and I can’t wait to try him.
Alex Morgan (90)- Her base item is a club legend of mine, so I might be a bit biased here, but I really like this card. Her dribbling and shooting and great, including the favourited Finesse Shot+ PlayStyle. Yes, she is hard to link, but she’s one of the best goal scorers I’ve used, so I would highly recommend giving her a try.
Hristo Stoichkov (90)- Stoichkov has been moved to a CAM and he’s also received a nice overall upgrade. His pace has gone down, but he’s improved in every other stat. He’s clinical, has a good eye for a pass and has exceptional dribbling. He does have a 3* weak foot, but if that doesn’t bother you, Stoichkov will be great to use
Christopher Nkunku (90)- The yearly insane Nkunku card has been released! Not only have his stats been upgraded, but he’s now got a 4* weak foot which is excellent. Nkunku can pretty much play anywhere from CM to ST. His stats are really well rounded and some of his best stats include 91 finishing, 92 agility, 94 balance and 92 ball control.
Eder Militao (88)- Eder Militao is another player so has been popular over the years, so it’s no shock that he’s very pricey. As well as being very quick, he is also very good defensively as he has 88 defensive awareness and interceptions and 89 standing tackle.
Raphinha (87)- Raphinha is a very good option at right-wing due to his high pace and amazing dribbling ability. The main reason though that makes him so good, is that he now has 5* skills which makes Raphinha much more appealing. Slap a deadeye chemistry style on him, and you have yourself a cracking winger.
Kyle Walker (87)- Kyle Walker is now a centre back and he’s the third quickest CB in the game. However, if you still wanted to play him right-back he can still play there. He was already a favourite for players across the game, so an upgraded version will be one of the best in the game, hence the price he will likely be.
Decent:
Marco van Basten (92)- This is a much better card than Van Basten’s base icon. He’s been upgraded to 4* skills and this version is a CAM, hence why he’s had such a massive boost across his passing stats. He still might be a bit heavy in-game due to his height, but this will be a fun card to use.
Gary Lineker (91)- I really like this Lineker card. He looks useable and has received a decent pace boost. Lineker is also up to 4* skills, making him a much better card than his base item. He will need the right chem style to boost the right stats, but I am a big fan of this card.
Fernando Hierro (90)- I don’t think anyone was expecting a centre-back with 99 defending in December! Unfortunately, Hierro hasn’t received a pace upgrade which makes this card not as good as he could have been. He’ll be tough to get past, but once he’s beaten for pace, he won’t be able to recover.
Paulo Dybala (89)- There isn’t a huge difference between this card and his POTM, but what does set them apart is that Dybala’s Winter Wildcard has an upgraded 4* weak foot. The Argentinian has a great array of PlayStyles as well as strong in-game stats.
Domenico Berardi (89)- Berardi has gained a +1 on all stats from his 88-rated in-form except physical where he has gained a +2. He still might be a bit slow, but with a hunter chemistry style, he’s excellent. He has 91 finishing and 92 positioning, so I’m sure he can bag a goal or two. He also has great dribbling which includes 96 agility.
Grimaldo (88)- Grimaldo’s Winter Wildcard is now a CM as well as having his normal alternative positions of LB, LM and LW. He is well-rounded and suits the CM role brilliantly. However, I wouldn’t want to have him any higher up the pitch due to Grimaldo having only 69 finishing, however on the edge of the box he’ll be class with his 96 shot power and long shots.
David Alaba (88)- Alaba has been moved to a CDM which is a pleasant change as this card is quite good and well-rounded. Admittedly, the stats are outrageous and still could be better, but he’s a solid defensive midfielder and the high dribbling stats is what makes this card stand out.
Marcos Llorente (87)- Going from 3* to 3* skills and from 4* to 5* weak foot is a brilliant upgrade for Llorente. This card is also now a LW with alternative positions of LM, RW and RM. However, I don’t think this card is suited to being a winger but definitely as a CM. Defensively, he is not as good as his evolution, but offensively, he is an improvement.
Enzo Fernandez (87)- A nice upgrade all round for Enzo Fernandez as he also goes up to 5* weak foot. His passing stats are really nice and as a central midfielder, he’s not half bad. Saying this, He’s only 100k for reason and that’s cause he’s not exceptional and doesn’t have any stats that stand out.
Nordi Mukiele (87)- The 5* weak foot is a nice addition to Mukiele’s Winter Wildcard. The major +12 pace boost that he has received makes him a really decent full-back who can play either side. It wouldn’t surprise me if we saw this card in a lot of people’s team because of the perfect link to Mbappe.
Alejandro Balde (86)- A 4* 4* full-back who can play both sides is always going to be a decent card. Balde is very quick and has alright stats all over. However, his physical stats are what’s stopping him from being a top tier full-back as he only has 68 strength and 51 aggression.
Jeremy Doku (86)- Doku is almost exactly what you would want from a winger in this game. He is extremely quick, has incredible dribbling and okay shooting. However, I would recommend getting a chem style that will improve his long shots as they are quite low being only 70.
Ryan Kent (84)- EA love to drop a Ryan Kent card every now and then, so Winter Wildcards was the perfect opportunity. Kent is back and he’s been given 99 dribbling, so he’ll be a menace to try and get the ball from. Only problem is, his shooting isn’t good at all, as he unfortunately has 71 finishing which is poor. A deadeye chem style will improve this, but he won’t be clinical.
Meh:
Ruud van Nistelrooy (91)- Very strange card this one as van Nistelrooy is now a goalkeeper which I’m sure no one really expected. I know we saw this concept at the back end of last year’s game cycle, but it feels way too early to be releasing a card like this. Admittedly, it is something different, but this isn’t enticing at all.
Marco Reus (89)- Reus isn’t an awful CAM, but I think for this stage of the game, there is way better options available. He hasn’t got a great pace or shooting and his stamina is low. However, his passing and dribbling is nice and he has some impressive PlayStyles including Finesse Shot, Whipped Pass and Trivela.
Michael Owen (89)- On face value, Owen looks like a decent winger, but if you take a deeper look into his Winter Wildcard Icon, you can see that he isn’t that great. Owen has 3* skills which is an immediate bad thing. He also doesn’t have the greatest shot power or long shots. Owen’s physicals are also bad with 63 strength and 58 aggression.
Juan Roman Riquelme (89)- On the positive side, Riquelme has gone to a 5* weak foot, gained the Finesse Shot+ PlayStyle and had a big pace boost, but he still isn’t a good card. Riquelme is still low, he has low agility an balance and has poor physicals. A step in the right direction for Riquelme, but he’s still a few upgrades away from being a great card.
John Barnes (89)- Barnes is now a CF with an alternate position of a ST. His shooting has received a big upgrade from his base icon, but his pace and dribbling have been downgraded, hence why there isn’t much difference in price from his base item. Not an awful card, but he still isn’t desirable.
Ian Rush (88)- Ian Rush’s Winter Wildcard Icon is now a CM which I like the idea of, but the reality is that he still isn’t great. Not many of his stats are great but some that are include his 96 vision, 92 ball control and 94 passing. However, the rest of his stats are average at best and as a CM he only has 66 long passing which is poor.
Oyarzabal (88)- He has received 5* skills which is a positive, but apart from that Oyarzabal’s Winter Wildcard isn’t anything out of the ordinary. He’s slow and his dribbling isn’t that impressive. If it wasn’t for the skill upgrade, this card would go straight into the fodder tier.
Edmond Tapsoba (86)- Even though Tapsoba is quite cheap, I don’t think this is a half bad card. He’s got okay pace, physical and defending and the maxed out dribbling is perfect, but he just isn’t incredible.
Filip Kostic (86)- His skill moves and weak foot have had a nice upgrade as he now has 5* skill moves and a 3* weak foot. The stats on the other hand, still aren’t world beating. He’s still far from a top tier card and his shooting will definitely need a good chem style boost.
Denzel Dumfries (85)- As a defensive right-back, I don’t mind Dumfries. His physicals are great, and with a shadow, I think he’s decent. Saying this, He does have 75 agility and 65 balance, meaning once he’s turned by a pacey and skilful winger, he’ll struggle to get back and defend.
Fodder:
Deyna Castellanos (87)- She might be 5* 5*, but this is a a pretty rubbish card. She only has a handful of good in-game stats and the rest are average. It would not shock me if she was sat at 87 fodder price.
Denis Zakaria (87)- He might have perfect passing, but there is so much wrong with this card. His pace split is awkward, he can’t shoot and his agility and balance are low meaning he’ll be heavy and slow. He also has High/High work rates with only 78 stamina. I would try and get a better CDM as soon as possible.
Ellyes Skhiri (87)- Yet another CDM with a 99 stat that just isn’t good enough. I think Skhiri is best due to his 99 shooting, so I’m sure he’ll get a few goals, but in terms of a defensive midfielder, he just isn’t good enough.
Georginio Wijnaldum (85)- Even though Wijnaldum has been given 99 physical, he’s still a very average card. He isn’t particularly quick and no other stats are out of the ordinary. To be honest, I’m not shocked he is minimum price.
Eberechi Eze (85)- Another card at min price and he’s very similar to Wijnaldum as to why. He does have 99 passing which is a great addition, but he’s quite under par everywhere else. The 3* weak foot also doesn’t help his case. If you’re a Crystal Palace fan, I’m sure you’re happy but apart from that, I sure we won’t see this card in many people’s teams.
Alexander Isak (85)- I was quite disappointed when I saw this card. Over previous years, we’ve seen some really good Isak cards, so to see one that is this poor wasn’t great. Isak does have 4* skills and a 5* weak foot which is excellent, but apart from that, there isn’t much else to this card.
Rayan Cherki (84)- Even with the 5* skills and weak foot, this isn’t a good card. Cherki isn’t quick and his shooting stats are rubbish. He does have good dribbling stats and I’m sure he’ll be tough to tackle, but I think this card would have been decent in the first week, not in December.
