What Changes Have Been Made to Custom Tactics and Managers in FC 25
EA SPORTS’ FC 25 has many new features that we have never seen before. From massive gameplay changes to the reworked custom tactics system that is set to be available, FC 25 could bring the biggest changes ever! As more information about FC 25 becomes public, we’ll look at two significant modifications coming to FC 25, specifically Ultimate Team, which are the changes to custom tactics and the new way that manager items will affect the game.
Custom Tactics in FC 25
As of the past few game cycles, custom tactics haven’t had any major changes and we’ve seen the meta formation continue to be 4-3-2-1. However, with the introduction of FC IQ, it looks like we will have more creativity in how we want to play the game and what formations we want to use.
The new FC IQ system works with AI and data to aim to bring more authentic gameplay and make matches feel more realistic. The new foundations of Player Roles, Team Tactics and Smart Tactics will create more unique gameplay and it will allow for you to have more control over your players than ever before! With 31 unique player roles, you will have even more of a say as to how you want your team to play.
Player roles will be assigned to items similarly to how we saw PlayStyles be assigned in FC 24. We expect players will have player roles to replicate how they performed in the previous season. For example, in the first half, you could have your CM play as a Box-to-Box, but at half-time change their player role to be a Deep Lying Playmaker. Smart tactics are also set to be added which will be an improvement on the “D Pad” tactics which have been the same for many years. Adding this will mean fewer pauses will be needed to change around and allow the game to flow more freely. The game will also give out “Tactical Suggestions” which will offer advice based on what is occurring in the game.
Another more advanced feature that is set to be added is the corner kick tactical changes. This allows you to set instructions for your defenders on corners and hopefully bring down the number of corner goals that you concede, which is something that has been apparent in FC 24. Instructions such as marking the “Target Player” (their attacker) and placing certain players in the near and back posts will hopefully bring a big change to corner kicks.
Manager Items in Ultimate Team
For many years now, manager items have been used purely to benefit your team’s chemistry. However, as FC 25 comes around, it’s looking like manager items may have an even bigger impact.
Managers are set to have their own presets in FC 25 which will be uniquely based on how they set up their teams in real life. These presets will include Formations, Build up style and Defensive approach. Some managers will have formations that they work better in than others due to how they structure their teams in real life. Also, each manager will also have their own tactical strengths and weaknesses which again is something new arriving in the game.
