Rulebreakers Toney and Hero Park - Spend or Swerve
RULEBREAKER TONEY
POSITIVES & NEGATIVES
-
Positives
-
Very reliable finishing inside the box, he scored a lot of goals
-
Has good aerial ability, scored from crosses/corners
-
Good physicality in game, he seemed very strong on the ball
-
Can be changed to a Lengthy AcceleRATE with the Arhcitect chemistry style
-
4* Weak Foot & Power Header Trait
-
-
Negatives
-
3* Skills Moves, this means he cannot perform the Heel to Ball Roll skill
-
No shooting traits, ideally you want the Outside Foot Shot trait
-
PLAYER COMPARISONS – IS HE BETTER THAN? (3* SKILLS, PREM STRIKERS)
-
Harry Kane – Kane has better finishing, and offers the 5* weak foot. Toney is quicker and better on the ball, so this decision very much depends on how you plan to use each of them.
-
Hero Ole Gunnar Solskaer – Solskjaer has slightly better finish, but I would say they are very even overall.
-
Hero Tim Cahill – Cahill is better in the air, but I would say Toney is better in pretty much everywhere else
-
Hero Peter Crouch – Crouch is better in the air, but I would say Toney is better in pretty much everywhere else
RATINGS
VERDICT
Ivan Toney impressed me a lot, I was quite apprehensive using him as he only has 3* skill moves and was very cheap so I wasn’t sure how he would perform.
He scored a lot of goals for me, and was very clinical in the area whilst also getting a few goals from crosses and corners.
For his price you cannot go wrong, he is so affordable for pretty much everyone and he performs very well, so it’s an easy Spend!

HERO PARK JI SUNG
POSITIVES & NEGATIVES
-
Positives
-
An incredibly well rounded box to box midfielder
-
A very versatile card, he can play in many central or wide positions
-
Scored and assisted a lot of goals playing as a B2B CM
-
Hero Chemistry – Always gets 3 chemistry points, and gives a +2 in league chem
-
4* Weak Foot & High/High Work Rates
-
-
Negatives
-
3* Skills Moves, this means he cannot perform the Heel to Ball Roll skill
-
Still quite expensive in comparison to a lot of players
-
Lacks a little in the strength department
-
He lacks height and aerial ability, so if playing in CDM he does not win many aerial duels from goal kicks
-
PLAYER COMPARISONS – IS HE BETTER THAN? (HIGH/HIGH MIDFIELDERS)
-
Kevin De Bruyne – KDB is much better offensively, but Park is much better defensively so it just depends on how you want to utilise each player.
-
Base Icon Schweinsteiger – Schweinsteiger and Park are quite similar attributes wise, however I would say Park edges the overall.
-
Rulebreaker Merino – Merino looks like a very good cheap alternative to Park with better defensive attributes, however Park has a better weak foot and better offensively.
-
RTTK Lucas Paqueta – Paqueta is not as good as Park, other than the skill moves I would say Park is better everywhere else.
RATINGS
VERDICT
Park Ji Sung performed exceptionally for me as a box to box CM, I paired him next to POTM Valverde and they run the show in a 4-2-2-2.
Park was very solid defensively and he always seemed to find himself in the right place, he also contributed a lot of goals and assists going forward, he is a very versatile card.
For me, I understand the price point is still fairly high, however the way in which he performed and his ability to play in multiple positions it is going to be a Spend.
