Radioactive Oshoala and Szoboszlai Player Review
This week, I’ve decided to review the new promo cards Radioactive Asisat Oshoala and Radioactive Dominik Szoboszlai. Radioactive cards give additional chemistry and start off with 2 chem points without the need to link to anyone. I built a team around these two cards and took them into champs to see how they got on.
Weekend league was certainly a rollercoaster this week. I started off brilliantly, going 9-2 in the first 11 games, but then it all went downhill as I would go on to lose 4 in a row. Luckily, I managed to save my weekend, as I won all my final 5 games to finish 14-6. Overall, a solid weekend for me with Oshoala and Szoboszlai playing key roles in my squad.
My team:
Formation and tactics used:
I used the 4-3-2-1 formation with Szoboszlai playing right centre-mid and Oshoala playing striker. The custom tactics were inspired by FUTWIZ Mark11 and you can see his full breakdown of his tactics here: https://www.futwiz.com/en/fc24-tutorial/4321-custom-tactics
Oshoala (ST)- Stay Central, Get in Behind.
Szoboszlai (RCM)- All balanced
Asisat Oshoala (ST):
A brilliant performance from Oshoala this weekend as she scored 18 goals and got 5 assists for me. I was really impressed by this card and Oshoala was a lot of fun to use. With the Radioactive chem system, she easily slotted into a team and I played her on 2 chem without even needing an additional chem boost.
Positives:
- Oshoala was very agile especially when dribbling. Her ball control was excellent and she turned quickly with the ball which made it hard for my opponents to tackle her. Her dribbling in the box was notably good as she would weave her way around defenders to make the space and get a shot on goal.
- She was regularly in good positions for her to get a shot away. When I was trying to find the right pass into the forwards with my midfielders, Oshoala was consistently in good space and in a good area to score.
- Her overhead kicks are brilliant, and this was due to her having the Acrobatic+ PlayStyle. Acrobatic+ means that her volleys have increased accuracy and she has access to acrobatic volley animations. Regularly, I found myself crossing the ball into her and I scored a lot of goals from doing this.
Negatives:
- Sometimes Oshoala is easily shoved off the ball, especially from more physical defenders such as Van Dijk and Blanc who are regulars in a lot of people’s teams. Even though she has 94 strength, she’s also 5’7” which definitely didn’t help when going shoulder to shoulder with bigger defenders.
- Her lack of shot power was obvious especially when she was shooting on her weak foot. Oshoala only has 79 shot power which was very evident at times as some of her shots that probably should have hit the back of the net headed straight at the goalkeeper. However, this can be upgraded with the right chem style.
- Oshoala’s stamina is a little bit low, so she’ll undoubtably need to be subbed off if you have any form of pressing tactic on. I found myself having to sub Oshoala off around the 60th-70th minute mark due to her running out of stamina easily. To be honest though, I don’t see this as a major issue.
Verdict:
Overall, I really liked Oshoala’s Radioactive card. She was really fun to use and a really skilful player. Her pace whilst dribbling was certainly her best feature. After getting 23 goal contributions in 20 games in champs, I can say she is a very good striker. However, she is quite expensive as she is currently around the 400k mark, so there might be some cheaper options available that are just as good.
Dominik Szoboszlai (RCM):
Szoboszlai really impressed me with his performances this weekend as he got 11 goals and 6 assists playing right centre-mid. He seemed to be everywhere and barely put a foot wrong. I played him on the right of a midfield 3 because I knew he would get in good positions to hit trivela shots with his Trivela+ PlayStyle. He was probably my favourite player in my team.
Positives:
- His trivela shots and passes were amazing with the Trivela PlayStyle+. He got a good handful of goals scoring edge of the box trivela shots and got a couple of assists from the right using a trivela cross. It was something I regularly looked for and it worked.
- He was very physical and strong which surprised me as he doesn’t have the best set of physical stats. Szoboszlai held his own when defenders were attempting to muscle him off the ball. This could be due to his height and body type, but it was very useful in the midfield.
- Szoboszlai often made brilliant runs from midfield into the box which gave him scoring opportunities. He has good shooting stats, so a lot of his goals came from making runs from the midfield and getting on the end of through balls and scoring.
- His speed to get away from defenders was great. After defending, he was often found on the right-wing, so he regularly was up against a full-back. However, he used his body and pace well to repeatedly knock the ball past and run towards the by-line for a cut back.
Negatives
- My only real negative for this card would be that he wasn’t as agile as I would have hoped easily when turning whilst dribbling. Szoboszlai has 71 balance, and it was pretty obvious at times. I put an engine chem style on him which helped, but he still felt heavy to turn regularly.
Verdict:
In conclusion though, I would 100% recommend this card. He was so much fun to use, and he was a threat anywhere on the pitch. His shooting was brilliant, and he was always involved somehow. He also scored twice in my final game to clutch 14 wins, so he was always going to get a positive review. Szoboszlai is also available at an amazing price of around 100k, so if you have the funds, I would 100% recommend you get him for your team.
If I had to pick between the two cards, I would absolutely go for Radioactive Dominik Szoboszlai as he is better value for money and in my opinion is more fun to use. Both cards were very good and I wouldn’t be opposed to get them again for my team for weekend league looking forwards.
