POSITIVES & NEGATIVES

Positives

  • Thuram is a very well rounded card, he has very few weak areas which makes him ideal for a box to box center midfielder

  • I found him to be really strong, he has 90 Strength and if you add that to him being 6’4” with a High and Average body type he just dominates most people for strength

  • As he is 6’4” he has great interceptions

  • For a player who is so tall and has a High and Average body type he dribbles really smoothly, he is able to carry the ball from the midfield with ease

  • He has 91 Short Passing which is excellent and in game his passing is really reliable

  • If you use an Anchor chemistry style on him he can have a Lengthy AcceleRATE (New Gen only)

  • He has High/High work rates which are perfect for a Box to Box center midfielder

  • He is easy to link as he has an extremely ‘meta’ Nation and League/Club

Negatives

  • 3* Weak Foot, ideally you want a center midfielder with 4* weak foot minimum

  • 3* Skill Moves, again ideally it is nice to have a midfielder with 4* skill moves

  • He has 80 balance which is a little low, and despite him dribbling well for a tall player you can feel he has low-ish balance with his body type

  • He does have any shooting traits which isn’t a huge problem but it is nice to have the Outside Foot Shot and Finesse Shot trait for long shots

PLAYER COMPARISONS – IS HE BETTER THAN? (Ligue 1 CDM/CMs)

Future Stars Vitinha – 235K

  • Vitinha is better offensively as he has better dribbling, he also has 4* Skill Moves (SM) and 4* Weak Foot (WF) but for a box to box CM or a defensively minded CM Thuram is far superior due to his size, strength and defensive qualities

  • If I was pick a box to box CM it would be Thuram, but if I was looking to pick a more offensive CM or CAM I would choose Vitinha

TOTY Honorable Mentions Fofana – 171K

  • Fofana and Thuram are very similar cards and you will see a lot of comparisons between the two, Fofana edges it on strength and he has 4* SM and 4* WF but other than that I feel that Thuram is a better choice as he edges it pretty much everywhere else

  • I would choose Thuram over Fofana simply as I feel that Thuram is a slightly better version of Fofana

WC Phenoms Guendouzi – 93K

  • I would say Guendouzi is a ‘cheap version’ of this Thuram card as Thuram is pretty much better in all areas, but that is expected as Guendouzi is half the price of Thuram

  • If I had to choose between the two it would easily be Thuram for all positions

Winter Wildcard Bellegarde – 49K

  • This is another instance where he can be considered a ‘cheap version’ of Thuram, however the huge difference in height might not see that as a fair comparison. Thuram is definitely the superior card in this instance

  • I would definitely choose Thuram as he is simply superior in all areas of the pitch

RATINGS

VERDICT

I will say I was very surprised with Thuram, I could not believe just how good he was. I found that he was much better on the ball than I expected him to be and he had such a big presence in the midfield.

His strengths lie within his physicality and his ability to play the box to box CM role superbly. The main issue with the card would be his 3* SM and 3*WF but I played him on the right side of center midfield so the 3* WF really was not noticeable.

If you use this card I would recommend using him as a box to box to utilise all of his attributes, he can play as a CDM however I think he is far more suited to the box to box role.

170K for this card is a really fair value for the card you get, so this is an easy SPEND!
