FUT 22: Team of The Season Predictions - Premier League
Hello and Welcome to Premier League Team of The Season Predictions. First TOTS Predictions in our cycle of seasonal predictions. Was very excited to start, even tho it’s later than usual.
Of course, as a disclaimer: I’m doing these predictions before TOTS even announced and season is far from over (around 9-7 games left in league). So, few players can be included, if they finish season strong and had an alright season before. It happened before; it might happen again.
Also, few more details. I’m not including players that just recently got some Special cards. Especially those who were included in FUT Fantasy promo. I wanted to include some players, like Jose Sa, for example, but obviously they are already high enough rated and might get even higher rating later in the season.
As for Premier League – it’s been exciting season as usual. Battle for 1st place is exciting, battle for UCL spot is exciting, battle for relegation also exciting. A lot of excitement in Premier League. Main highlights – of course: City and Liverpool. They should get most number of TOTS cards, and it’ll be really deserved cards based on performances.
It’s hard to describe other teams, after first 2. A lot of players performed well, but we should be unbiased here and include players who deserve it at most.
Also, I’m including more than 15 players in these predictions, as I don’t know whole concept of TOTS this year. I didn’t expect it to be only 15 players last season, this season I hope it’ll be different. I can’t fit only 15 players in Predictions. I wanted to, but even at 23 players I was founding more and more players who deserve it. So, I hope that this year we’ll get more than 15 players, also a lot of SBCs for TOTSMoments.
Problem with PL TOTS it’s mostly the same players all over again as other years. I tried to include few newcomers, but still there should be many same players as in previous years.
Let’s start it and let’s start with goalkeepers as per usual.
My main choice for GK is David De Gea. It’s not a big surprise, as he was the main hero of Manchester United and if not for him – they’ll be way below on points and in table. De Gea found his form after few rough seasons and should get popular TOTS card.
Other alternative choices: Ramsdale, Ederson, Alisson. All 3 GKs were really good. Ramsdale surprised a lot of people with his performances for Arsenal and proved his doubters wrong with consistent performances and quality saves. Ederson and Alisson were both sensational for leaders. Both kept a lot of CS and both were crucial to their teams. I actually think that Alisson may get TOTS, as he was very consistent and made some insane saves that kept Liverpool in title race.
As for defenders:
Start for defenders is pretty easy: TAA, Cancelo, VVD, Dias, Rudiger – are my 5 “locked” players. All 5 were consistently awesome for their teams. TAA breaking record after record and leads in most passing stats, VVD back to his best this season after cruel injury last season. Cancelo had one of the better seasons for defender on both wings and should get a card close to his TOTY (or even better one). Dias may be debatable choice, but he was that consistent and calm and collected that it was hard for me to pass up on him. Rudiger was insane this season, overall under Tuchel he was insane. It’s debatable between him and Thiago Silva on who deserves TOTS more, but I went with Rudiger as I thought he was more influential in Chelsea games.
Then we move to harder part. There are a lot of defenders who deserve TOTS, but I don’t have that many spots. Reece James, Robertson, Ben White, SaissCoady, Guehi, Webster and others. So, on the bench I have most of them, apart from Wolves duo. I think Reece will get his TOTS, despite missing few games with injuries. I don’t know why, but people seem to ignore Robertson and I don’t know why: 1 goal and 10 assists to his name, even some midfielders have lesser contributions than Robbo. Speaking about Liverpool: Joel Matip was one of main surprises and highlights of the season. Feels like finally he gets recognition he deserves but putting 4 Liverpool defenders seems like a very biased and bad choice, so I’ll skip. Who else I mentioned… Ben White feels the same as Ramsdale – people were telling that Arsenal overpaid for him and he’d flop – but he proved people wrong with his overall game. I think he might get some sort of TOTS card, but overall, it’s unlikely in my opinion. Just felt like I needed to mention him. Coady and Saiss from Wolves are having a great year, as whole Wolves team. They don’t concede that much, and these defenders are the main reason for that (along side Sa, who I already mentioned). Wolves had a very strong season, especially on defensive side. It’s very hard to include one of these cards, as they are not so popular, but I just can not mention them, as they were strong contenders. Same goes for Guehi and whole Crystal Palace and Webster in Brighton shirt. Both were good and maybe they deserve TOTS, but they’ll be rather cheap and not so popular candidates (Guehi would be nice overall, but would place him in team, maybe SBCs or something like that).
Defenders are always hard, because it’s hard to mention only few and if I start mentioning some player – other comes up and the cycle doesn’t end soon. I feel like any of defenders who I mentioned might get a TOTS or Moments card and it feels like most of them deserves at least a mention.
With Midfielders it ain’t easy too. Of course, there are likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva who had very bright season for Manchester City, but apart from them: Ruben Neves, Connor Gallagher, Bruno Fernandes – all had very good season and were leaders of their teams. Bruno got 9 goals and 6 assists, which is more than Foden and Maddison, but… I just don’t know how to rate him this season. Connor Gallagher is one of the highlights of the season, he feels like an English Kante, he played consistently and would be able to get an amazing card upgraded from his FUT Future Stars. If I mention Connor Gallagher – it’s a must to mention Declan Rice too, who had a great season with whole West Ham. I didn’t include Rice in main team, as he recently got a crazy boosted FUT Birthday card and I take it in consideration. Maybe Gallagher won’t get it for the same reason. Ruben Neves finally became a player people wanted him to be. Not only a long-shot taker, but also top-top midfielder in many aspects of his game. Maybe he didn’t get a lot of goals and assists this season (only 4+2), but Wolves didn’t score that many goals overall (only 33, less than any other team in top-13).
It’s needed to mention other candidates. I think I’m missing few proper DMs and AMs, so let’s mention some players who can get in. From DMs: Soucek is possible; he had a good season for West Ham, not that epic as previous 1, but still consistent and good. Same goes for Kante – I’ve seen a lot of people mention his name, but don’t think he’ll get in – but you never know with EA. He was solid as always – that is Kante for you, but imo not that sensational. In addition, if we go for Attacking Midfielders – I feel like James Maddison and Phil Foden are the only options that should be considered. Madders got 8 goals and 4 assists and it’s solid numbers for Leicester, as they didn’t have a good season. Madders always gets some sort of special card, so it’s possible that it’ll be another year with TOTSMoments Maddison. Same goes for Foden. 7 goals and 3 assists to his name, with a lot of great performances, but I’m not sure if he gets into TOTS. I do not want to overload TOTS with CityLiverpool players that is why I excluded few probably deserved players. They for sure can get into Team, but I just do not think they will (at least, not in my predictions).
Now, I should cover wingers. It’s a lot of fun. Main options for me are: Sterling, Salah, Jota, Saka, Son, Bowen. There are probably few players that I missed. For example – Mahrez. I went with Sterling over Mahrez, but it can be vise-versa. I just went with Sterling, as Mahrez has cool dynamic card that should get a very high rating. Feel like wingers are the same options as previous seasons, but with addition of Saka. Bukayo had an incredible season for Arsenal and he deserves TOTS, I feel like he’s the main player of Arsenal who deserves TOTS. 9 goals and 5 assists to his name. Yeah, and his TOTS should be very fun too! Jota may get central card or LW one, both will be good and it’ll be deserved one too. 14 goals and 1 assists, surprising aerial threat and 2nd (after Salah) goal scorer in Prem. Son got also 14 goals, but he got way more assists: 6. Should be incredible card as per usual and everyone loves TOTS Son. He’s very consistent under Conte and it’s nice to see him doing well. And last but not least – Salah. Should I even say something? Probably not. Salah getting TOTS and quite possibly POTY award too. Phew. That’s all with wingers, right? Kulusevski might get a moments card, same goes for Mane. Sadio had a decent year, much better than last one (IMO) and might improve his results too (as he’s on 12 goals already). Apart from them… no one, right? Mount? I doubt. Smith-Rowe? Possibly. But for real – wingers in Prem aren’t that impressive. And 5 already enough.
Last but not least: strikers. I have only 3 options. Kane, Toney and Cristiano Ronaldo. Why I included Toney: he saved Brentford from relegation with his 11 goals and it’s possible that he might not get TOTS, but Moments – but feel like he needed a mention. Yeah, a lot of goals were pens, but still – every goal counts. Same goes for CR7. 12 goals and 3 assists may not be that impressive, when we talk about CR7, but that’s a decent number in this season and we all know how EA loves putting CR7 in TOTS or other big promos. He probably will get TOTS. Kane started season slowly, but got back on track and got himself 12 goals and 6 assists. Very good season for Kane, despite not that many goals (compared to his previous seasons), but still should get a cracking TOTS!
IMO, Strikers actually sucked this year. On average – there were a lot more goals from main goal scorers. But this season – very average results with 12-10 goals on average. If I missed anyone – tell me and we’ll discuss it.
So yeah, that’s a wrap, that’s my TOTS Predictions for Premier League. I think defendersmidfielders are hardest positions to choose from, while attackers picking themselves. I hope that we’ll get more than 15 players and a lot of content apart from packs only. Tell me your thoughts and please don’t destroy me in replies :D
