Flashback Ramos - Spend or Swerve

POSITIVES & NEGATIVES

Positives

• Defensively a rock, nearly always came out with the ball in a 1v1

• Very good Strength and Aggression which was noticeable in the challenge

• He has high Acceleration (90) which was definitely noticeable

• Great in the air, with the Power Header Trait, 97 Jumping and 98 Heading Accuracy

• Good league/club links, easy to link with very meta players

Negatives

• Only has 77 Sprint Speed which is lower than most of the top CBs

• High Attacking work rates for a CB isn’t ideal, however I didn’t notice it in game

• Has ok dribbling for a CB, but will still feel heavy on the ball but that’s expected

• Considered to be quite an expensive SBC

PLAYER COMPARISONS – IS HE BETTER THAN? (ELITE CBs – Excluding TOTYs)

WC Stories Van Dijk – 844K

• They are very similar cards, but I would say VVD edges it

• I would choose Van Dijk simply to how he plays in game, attribute wise its very close

WC Hero Lucio – 1.35M

• Lucio is the best CB in the game, excluding the two new TOTY CBs

• I would choose Lucio due to him being the best non TOTY CB in the game

Winter Wildcard Varane – 660K

• Varane is a great card, but Ramos is a bit better Defensively and Physically

• I would choose Ramos as he is slightly better in the key areas than Varane

Base Icon Maldini – 407K

• Maldini is great for his price, but that extra Def and Phy from Ramos is key

• I would choose Ramos, even those Maldini is quicker I just feel the Defending and Physical is too good to pass up on Ramos

VERDICT

To put it simply, Ramos is a monster …

Every year he has a great card and this year it is the same, his high defending and physicality makes him so dominant in the tackle, he always seemed to come out with the ball.

I understand people will think he is overpriced, however I don’t think that is the case, yes he is expensive but when you compare him to tradable cards I think the price point is fair and with TOTY the ability to generate fodder is easier. If he was any cheaper you would see him in everyone’s team, a bit like Maldini.

For me, he is a SPEND, and I would recommended taking your time to complete him with your fodder you get through TOTY
