FIFA 23 Player of The Month Predictions: Ligue 1 - October
Hello and welcome to Player of the Months Predictions, now for Ligue 1, for October. This month in Ligue 1 was exciting in terms of players performances and finding exactly 3 players was hard. Usually there are 3 nominees, so we go with 3.
As per usual – I’ll try to mention more players and we’ll see how many I’ll get. Sometimes we get completely unexpected nominees, but winners are usually predictable.
Last time Messi deservedly won POTM and he got 92 rating and expensive SBC, this time I expect SBC to be cheaper and winner not so exciting (but still might fit meta).
And the last thing I’ll say before proceeding to an article – I still don’t know how ratings will work with POTM, so I’m giving some strange upgrades to some cards. Bare with me, as I’m trying to figure it out.
Let’s start.

First candidate that I have is Kylian Mbappe. Yeah, he probably can be nominated this month, but I can’t see him winning an award just yet. Usually it takes a lot for Mbappe to win POTM. In October he managed to score 4 goals and get 2 assists. He scored vs Nice in 2-1 win, got 2 goals and assist vs Ajaccio, got an assist in crucial 1-0 win vs Marseille and scored a pen vs Troyes in 4-3 win. So yeah, he was consistent, nice and scored a lot of important goals. If he wins – he’ll probably get 92 rated POTM, which will cost around… Ughh 2 mill? Or a bit less. It’s going to be very expensive SBC. One of the most expensive at this stage of the season.
Next up I have Kevin Danso from Lens. Austrian defender already got an IF recently and his POTM might make him very meta card. He’s already got some nice links with Fofana, so it’ll be interesting if he wins an award. Lens conceded only 1 goal over the month vs Lille and won other 4 games, they sit 2nd in table and Danso got 4 clean sheets and several MOTM cards. If he wins – he’d be 84 rated card and would cost around 50k, in my opinion.
Next up I have dynamic duo from Monaco. Both Ben Yedder and Breel Embolo scored 4 goals and got 1 assist in 5 games. Embolo scored in 2-0 win over Angers, in 1-1 draw vs Clermont, in 2-0 win against Montpellier and in 4-1 win against Nantes (also got an assist). Ben Yedder on other hand scored 3 goals vs Nantes and got 1 goal and 1 assist vs Lille in 4-3 loss. So, by the look at it – Embolo goals were more important, so he slightly edges it for me. If Ben Yedder wins – he’ll be either 86 or 87 RATed card and would worth around 200k, while Embolo would be 84 and would worth around 30k in my opinion.
Moving closer to favorite. Alexander Lacazette came back to Lyon and regained his form. Lyon already changed their manager and they are now under the management of Laurent Blanc, and Laca began to shine under his guideline. In October he scored 4 goals and got 2 assists: 1 assist in 1-1 draw vs Toulouse, 2 goals in 3-2 defeat vs Rennes, 1 goal and 1 assist in 2-1 win over Montpellier and 1 goal vs Lille in crucial 1-0 win. Overall, Lyon came back to life and showed good results. Laca leads an attack and overall plays really well. He got 1 IF already, so his POTM probably would be around 84-86 rating. Hopefully higher, but he’d still be worth around 30-40k at max IMO.
And at last, my favorite – Martin Terrier from Rennes. He already got few special cards this year and continues his form from last year, in where he shined. In October he managed to score and assist more than anyone: 5 goals and 2 assists. 1 goal and 1 assist in two 3-0 wins vs Nantes and Montpellier, 2 goals in 3-2 win over Lyon and 1 goal in 3-1 win vs Strasbourg. After somewhat rough start Rennes sit at 3rd place in Ligue 1 only behind Lens and PSG. Overall Martin became one of the most desirable players in Europe and a lot of teams are looking to buy him. So yeah, if Terrier wins – he’d be…86 I guess? Or 87, as he already got 84 rated IF, 85 RTTK that should go to 86 at least, or even 87. So anything under 87 is a bit of a waste. Plus he’s lengthy. So let’s say around 60k is a fair price for him.
So yeah, that’s all for this article, I hope you enjoyed a quick wrap on Ligue 1 POTM for October – I think Terrier will win an award, but wouldn’t mind even Danso. Feel like all 6 mentioned players deserve a win and it’ll be interesting to see who gets an award.
