Hello and Welcome to December Player of The Month predictions for Premier League. Last month TAA won POTM deservingly, this time will be harder to decide clear winner. There were a lot of games in Premier League in December, as usual.

Despite COVID cases and games postponed for later – we saw a lot of great performances over this month. Especially up top of the table. Well, 3 teams title race became 1 team race pretty fast (in 2 game days) and City are now clear leaders of the table. They won all 6 games this month and looking unstoppable. Of course, they’ll have nominee for this article.

I’ve tried to find candidates from lower teams, but it was hard, not many teams had a good month and selecting players from those teams were hard enough. So I don’t have anyone not from top 7 teams.

Well, if I mentioned top-7, let’s start with Manchester United. They had mixed month. They sacked Ole and appointed Rangnick and had decent set of results. To be fair – their opponents were easy enough. That makes my inclusion of David De Gea even more interesting. He saved them vs Norwich and Newcastle, kept CS in 1-0 win over Palace and was decent enough vs Arsenal, despite conceding 2 goals. De Gea, surprisingly to me, doesn’t have any special card this FUT so far, so this one would be his first. 87 rated GK with some nice stats and links shouldn’t worth more than 50k in my opinion. He’s not popular this year too, due to his lower rating. Well, he’s having a good season, so he may get upgraded or get some sort of special card later.

Then we move to 6th place Spurs, who sacked their manager too and appointed Antonio Conte. He gave them new life and despite them being 5 points away from Arsenal, if we count their 2 missing games as wins, they’d sit at 4th spot. Son from Spurs had a very good month. Despite him only playing 5 games (should’ve been 7) – he managed to get 4 goals and 1 assist in those 5 games: 1 goal in 3-0 win over Palace, 1 goal in 2-2 draw vs Liverpool, 1 goal and 1 assist vs Norwich and 1 goal against Brentford. He also had a good game vs Southampton, but didn’t get a goal or assist, so we shouldn’t really count it. Son would be 91 rated card and would be insanely popular card in FUT. His IF dropped in price massively, but still I expect this card to be expensive. I’d say more than 400k easily. Maybe 500k? Even tho it’s only +1 on his IF, I guess many players have fodder in their club and would rather use it on a big SBC like Son.

Then I have 2 Arsenal youngsters. Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. Both had a very good month. Well, whole Arsenal had a good month. I wanted to include 3 players (ESR deserves it too), but it would be too much. Let’s cover every single one. ESR got 4 goals this month: 1 goal vs Manchester United, West Ham, Leeds and Norwich. Scored in every game that he played this month in PL. Saka scored 3 goals and got 2 assists: Assists vs Southampton and West Ham, goal vs Leeds and 2 goals vs Norwich. Odegaard scored 3 goals and got 3 assists too: goal vs Manchester United, Everton and Southampton. He got assist vs Leeds and Norwich. Phew, that’s all. A lot of contributions. So, Saka would be 88 rated card and would be the best one out of them all – would have some sick stats and would worth like 100k, maybe a bit more. ESR would be 87 rated card and would worth 60k max, in my opinion. Odegaard would be 86 rated card, would be the cheapest one and would worth 40k in my opinion. So, I think the best option out of 3 would be really Saka, for people’s teams and also he deserves it. Boy had wonderful month.

Next up I move to 3rd place Liverpool. Mohammed Salah had another good month, and if he’d score vs Leicester – he’d be higher in this article. He still managed to get 2 goals vs Everton, 1 assist vs Wolves, 1 goal against Villa and 1 goal vs Newcastle. Solid month with 4 goals and 1 assist. Again, it should’ve been more, but he missed pen vs Leicester, Liverpool lost and that moved Salah to less likely winners of an award in my eyes. His POTM would be 93 rated card and would have some incredible stats, but would be too expensive (I’d say – around 1 mill again. I’d say he probably will get nominated, but won’t have a chance to win an award in my eyes.

We move to another English player, and it’s Mason Mount, who had incredible month. Despite Chelsea drawing 3 out of 6 games, Mason scored and assisted 4 goals and 3 assists. 7 contributions in 7 games is cool and Mason can get decent enough POTM at RF. He mostly played there, so his POTM should be RF too. So: he got goals vs Everton, Leeds, West Ham and Watford, while assisted in games vs Watford, West Ham and Brighton. I’d say he’s one of the biggest favorites this month and his POTM would be 87 rated card. I think it’ll be really cheap (like 50k at max), due to position and him not being really popular in FUT.

And the last, but not least: Manchester City. As I’ve sad – they won last 7 games, every game this month, and my main candidate is Raheem Sterling. Well, there are also KDB and Cancelo, that I should cover too, but to me Sterling is the best candidate. He scored 5 goals and got 1 assist in 5 games he played this month (was rested vs Brentford and Leeds, so he couldn’t score anything there). Sterling had a best month of the season, because without December he’d be only on 2 goals so far. His card would be equal to his Winter Wonderland card and probably would have similar stats, but worse weak foot. So a bit pointless overall. He’d be 90 rated and would worth around 120130k in my opinion. Maybe a bit more. But his IF is pretty cheap.

Cancelo is another candidate from City: 1 goal and 1 assist vs Newcastle, but also kept 3 clean sheets this month. He was praised by media a lot, but again – same problem, his card would be equal to TOTGS – 89 rated, same price, around 150k and that’s it. KDB – also very good month. 2 goals vs Leeds, assist vs Brentford and goal vs Leicester. Maybe not enough, but still – POTM would be similar to SS card. I still think that Sterling is the best option from City.

Overall, in conclusion – my bet is on Mason Mount, but personally I’d prefer Son. Better for the game, had very good month, people would complete him. I think, if there were no postponed games – Son would be able to score 1-2 more goals and that would settle him for POTM. But hey, maybe next month. Mount would be cheap POTM for some Objectives grind, I guess.
