FIFA 22: Player of the Month Predictions - Ligue 1 October POTM
Hello and welcome to our predictions for Ligue 1 POTM for October.
Kinda interesting month in France. Finding POMT nominees was hard enough. Let’s explain why: Only 1 team went unbeaten this month and it was Rennes. PSG lost to Rennes and drew to Marseille, Marseille lost to Lille, Nice lost to Troyes, Lens lost 2 games, Lyon had few draws and loss to Nice (it was a mad comeback for Nice in 10 minutes from 0-2 to 3-2).
So yeah, finding POTM nominees was hard. Overall this year in Ligue 1 is ultra competitive if we exclude 1st place. Even when PSG are struggling, they are still winning games. But other than that: gap from 2nd place NIce to 16th place Bordeaux is only 12 points (and between 2nd and 6th are 4 points). Very competetive league, but teams are still finding their best conditions, mostly due to a lot of manager swaps (Nice under new manager, Lyon too, Marseille adapting to Sampaoli more and more, Lille struggling after amazing last season).
Let’s cover 3 main candidates, because there were a lot of average performances that can get nominated: Marquinhos for example. Also for example, Franck Honorat can get nominated for 3 goals in a month vs Monaco, Reims and Nice. But for me stood out:
Habib Diallo from Strasbourg is my first candidate. Strasbourg had an interesting month: 4-0 win over Lorient, 1-0 loss to Rennes, 5-1 win over Saint-Etienne and 1-1 draw to Montpellier. Habib Diallo scored 3 goals in these 4 games (2 vs Lorient and 1 vs Saint-Etienne) and overall was impressive for Strasbourg. Senegalese scored 6 goals already this season and got 1 IF. It’s possible that he’ll get SIF for a game vs Lorient, so his POTM would be either 86 or 87 rated card with some average stats. He’d be quite cheap and wouldn’t be popular at all, just because he’s hard to link and his stats aren’t expectational. I’d say he’s worth 20k or so.
Next one I have is Gaetan Laborde from Rennes. As I’ve said before: Rennes went unbeaten this month with: win over PSGH, win over Metz, win over Strasbourg and draw to Troyes. Laborde is ex Montpellier striker, who is not the last one in this article. Good signing for Rennes, he scored and assisted vs PSG, scored a goal vs Metz and was solid in other 2 games. He already had an IF for a game vs Metz (not over PSG, due to Sulemana getting Silver Stars for that game). So his POTM would be 86 rated with some sick stats. I actually think that he’d be rather useful and would be also cheap. He has nice links and would link to very cool Traore Conference League card. He’d worth around 50k or so in my opinion.
Chance of POTM: 30%
Last one I have is one of my favorite players right now: Andy Delort from Nice. Another ex-Montpellier striker, who switched clubs in summer. Delort been performing for Nice this season with 7 goals and 2 assists in 11 games. This month he had 2 goals in 2-1 comeback vs Angers, 1 goal in 3-2 comeback vs Lyon and played amazingly vs Brest in 2-1 victory. Didn’t play that well in 1-0 loss to Troyes, but whole team didn’t show up. Delort should get an IF for a game vs Angers and would 84 rated, so his POTM would be 87 rated one. He’d have a very sick stats, but main issue is 33, as per usual. Nice should have a lot of content this year, due to some popular players in their team (like Atal every year, and we already got RB Dante), so Delort would be useful to get some links. He’d be cheap too, as market is pretty low this year and I expect him to be 50–70k in my opinion.
Chance of POTM: 45%
