FIFA 22: Player of the Month Predictions - La Liga January POTM
Hello and Welcome to January POTM Predictions for La Liga. It was a very rough month for most of the teams, no one had perfect month and even not many teams were unbeaten. There were loads of cup games, actually 2 full rounds of games and that affected how month played out. Only 3 games to choose from, for some teams it’s more due to some games postponed before. Overall very strange month and hard one to predict.
Despite that I tried to find 6 decent options for POTM and spoiler: there’s no clear winner in my opinion. Few players showed their class in 23 games and still should get nominated.
Let’s start with Lucas Ocampos from Sevilla. He had not very good month, but still managed to get 1 goal and 1 assist in 4 games. Yeah, it’s not a lot, but it’s a honest work. I couldn’t find better option, really. 1 goal in 1-0 win over Cadiz to start the month, then 1 winning assist in 1-0 win over Getafe. Then 2 pretty decent games, but no contributions in draws vs Valencia and Celta Vigo. If he manages to win (which is really unlikely) – he’ll get 86 rated card, that would worth around 50k, or maybe a bit less. Still decent stats, but doubt that many people would use him, due to many better options in the league and Vini already having popular SBC and being one of the most popular cards in game.
Next option is Mathias Olivera from Getafe. I thought Getafe would get relegated with how they started the season, but now they are looking better and better. They are now out from relegation zone and even managed to win 2 games, draw 1 and lose only 1 (to Sevilla) during January. Their first win of the month was vs Real Madrid at home and it was a big surprise to everyone. Mathias Olivera from Getafe is main option from them. He got an assist and kept 2 CS in 4 games. Overall he was highly rated by many sources and it’s possible that he’ll get nominated. He’d be 84 rated card, if he’d win an award and would worth not a lot, most likely around 10k. Not many people would want that card and not many would complete. Doubt that he’ll win it.
Next one is Nabil Fekir, who had a very nice month in LaLiga. He managed to get 3 assists in 4 games this month. His game vs Espanyol was the best one, he got 2 assists there and was the best player on the pitch. FUT people are familiar with Fekir, and he might be back. If he wins an award – he’d be 87 rated card. It’s possible that he might get IF, so his POTM would be 88 rated, which is better than his RTTK. That card was and still is a nightmare to a lot of people, including myself, so I wouldn’t enjoy even better version of him. Betis having an amazing season, and they sit at 3rd spot, so UCL is really possible for them, if they manage to finish season strong. I’d expect this card to be around 150k, maybe even a bit more. But as it’s not a live version, then it should be around that price. We’ll see how it goes.
Pau Torres from Villarreal looks like a strong option for this month. Despite losing to Elche – Villarreal had a good showing this month with 2 wins and 1 draw in those 4 games. Pau Torres kept 2 CSs in 4 games (in 5-0 win over Levante and 3-0 win over Mallorca). Also, Pau Torres managed to score 2 goals this month vs Atletico Madrid and vs Levanta. His Winter Wildcard was pretty popular, from what I’ve seen, and a lot of people claimed that he’s really undervalued by community for no reason at all. So, this card might be even better. It’s possible that it’ll be 87 rated card with some cool stats, especially defending. I still will agree that he should be cheap, like his other WW card. Should be cheap, most likely around 30-50k, but not more.
Vinicius had one more very good month. Real Madrid played Super Cup and Cup, so only 2 leagues games played by him. In those 2 games he managed to get 2 goals (vs Valencia in 4-1 win) and got an assist (in 2-2 draw vs Elche). If he wins POTM – he’d probably be 88 rated card. Or 89. Or 90. I just don’t know what upgrade pass they would choose for him. He’ll be a lot of coins, if he’ll get released. Probably more than 1 million. Or around that. Would be a bit of a slap for those who did POTM, but here we are. Vini will have sensational TOTY.
The last candidate is Angel Correa from Atletico Madrid: Angel Correa. He literally carried Atletico Madrid this month. He scored 2 goals in 2-0 win over Rao. Got 1 goal from the center of the pitch vs Villarreal and scored an important equalizer on 90th minute in 3-2 comeback for Atletico Madrid. He should get nominated and should win an award in my eyes. 4 goals – 3 games, perfect month for Angel. If he manages to win an award, he should be 87 rated card, a bit higher than his Freeze card too. He’d probably cost like 150k, due to his FrezeeFire card being 120k. This one would be better.
I think Correa gets an award for this month. He should get very nice POTM. But if not for him – it should be Fekir. Overall, both players would suit nice and would be usable (at least as subs, if they are cheap). But La Liga POTM is unpredictable, and I didn’t get even 1 right nominee last month. So, this I hope will go better.
