Hello and welcome to Player of the month predictions for April for La Liga.

La Liga did bless us with some bangers this month, but mostly there were races for UCL spot and for safety. With safety it’s still up in the air: 4 teams battling for 1 safe spot as it seems like Levante and Alaves going down. Fun fact, I’ll actually have a player from Levante in my Predictions.

As for UCL spot – it’s calmer. Atletico, Sevilla, Barcelona are a bit ahead of Betis, who dropped points, but also won a cup. So overall it’s been a good season in La Liga and a good month. For Real Madrid it was a perfect month too: 4 wins, Barcelona lost 2 games and Atletico lost and drew in April. They only need 1 point and they’ll be champions.

Sadly for Sevilla fans – they had a bad run of form and lost 2 games: to Barca and to Real Madrid. Both were close and both could’ve gone either way. Still they should finish in UCL spot and we’ll see them even stronger next season. For Atletico Madrid – it’s a weird season. They had their ups and downs. This month highlighted that even more with 2 good wins and 1 loss and 1 draw to teams that placed 16th and 18th. Feels like they underperformed a lot, especially after a season where they became champions.

Let’s stop waffling around and let’s highlight some nominees.

I’m starting from least likely winnernominee to more and more likely players.

Least likeliest player to get nominated and win an award – Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid. Despite only scoring 2 goals this month, I feel like he deserved more. He had very strong games vs Mallorca and Granada and tried his hardest to change the outcome in those games, but ball just didn’t go in. Carrasco with 2 goals brought Atletico 3 crucial points in UCL race vs Getafe and just for that (and lack of other nominees) he deserves to be mentioned. Sadly for FUT users – his potential POTM would be 88 rated and would be lower than his HL which already cheap enough. But don’t worry, I’m sure that his TOTS is coming and it’ll be a very good card!

Next up I have Stole Dimitrievski from Rayo. Rayo had a disastrous 2nd half of the season, but it all changed after last 2 games. Overall Rayo, if you remember, started season with an insane record for a newcomer and they were going to Euro Cups, but then it all changed and they were losing and losing games. It all changed with a win over Espanyol and a win over Barca. Main part of those wins – Stole, the goalkeeper. He kept at bay very attacking Barca side and also kept CS vs very good attack of Espanyol. So yeah, if he’ll get an IF for a game vs Barca – his potential POTM would be 86 rated. If not – 84 rated. Very cheap POTM that no one would complete.

Then I have a player from Osasuna: Ante Budimir. Ante scored only 7 goals in La Liga this season and got 1 assist. Fun fact. 5 goals and 1 assist came over last 5 games in La Liga. Even tho his 1 goal and 1 assist came in March, in April he managed to score in every goal that Osasuna played and he’s one of the reasons why Osasuna sit 9th in table (any of you remember when Osasuna was playing in Euro Cups or just me who’s that old?). He scored in 4-1 loss vs Betis, 1-0 win over Alaves, 2-1 win over Valencia and in 1-3 loss vs Real Madrid. Despite losing 24 games – he still managed to score in every game. Pretty impressive, right? His Potential POTM would be 84 rated and it’ll be worth around 10k.

Next up I have a signing for Sevilla. Despite them losing 2 games and winning only 2 games, I decided to include their January signing: Tecacito (aka Jesus Corona). Jesus Corona moved in winter and wasn’t that amazing before this month, but it all changed with 2 goals and 2 assists in 3 games. He was quiet vs Barca, but recorded assists vs Granada in 4-2 win and Real Madrid 2-3 loss and finally got 2 goals in an important game for both teams in table vs Levante. He might get an IF for a game vs Levante, but otherwise his POTM will be 86 rated. It’s a nice card, but has no use at this stage of the game, so fodder at max and max price should be around 30k at worst.

Next up I have a player from League Leaders: Lucas Vazquez. Best Right Back in Real Madrid had an impressive month for his club with 2 goals. Yes, they kept only 1 clean sheet, but Lucas can in and actually managed to bring stability to Real Madrid in important month for them. He scored 1 goal vs Osasuna and scored a goal in 2-0 win over Getafe. His potential card would be 87 rated and close to his Showdown card which is nice and La Liga needs a bit more right backs, so he’d be nice option. At max I think it would cost around 50k. Should be less, but you never know with EA.

And last, but not least: Jose Luis Morales. Yes, favorite for POTM is from 19th team of the league. But hear me out. 5 goals and 3 assists in 4 games. Insane month for Morales. Sadly for him and Levante – they lost 2 out of 4 games and might not survive. They lost in very close game vs Barca, when they weren’t much worse. They also lost vs Sevilla in close encounter. Both games were lost 2-3 which makes it even worse. But for Morales: 2 goals in 2-0 win over Villarreal, 1 goal and 1 assist in a game vs Sevilla, 1 goal vs Barca and 1 goal and 2 assists in 4-1 win over Granada. What a month for him. He should get 87 rated card and it should be a bit better than his winter wildcards card, but I’m hoping for his TOTS. It would be an amazing story for player from relegated team to get TOTS. It didn’t happen for few seasons, why not here. His card should be worth around 70-80k in my opinion and would make a very nice super sub.

So yeah, that’s a wrap for this article. I think and I hope Morales wins, as he really tried and deserves it for this month alone We’ll see what will happen, even Lucas Vazquez won’t be a bad winner. Sadly cards will be outdated and won’t make people’s squads anyway.
