Hello and Welcome to TOTS Super Lig (aka Turkish League) Predictions.

This is going to be smaller article compared to top 5 leagues, but I did some research and actually asked people on Twitter who are fans of Turkish football and invested in the league much deeper than I am. Personally I watched some big games in the league and sometimes did bets on Turkish League. First rule: don’t bet on Turkish league.

This was hard league to predict, compared even to Liga Nos, because there were even lower amount of standout performers compared to other years, but as per usual, let’s cover the league.

Last year winner – Istanbul Basaksehir are now struggling in the bottom part of the table and might be relegated, while 3 big titans of Turkish football – BesiktasGalatasarayFenerbahce are fighting for a title this season.

It seems like Besiktas will come out on top (for now, I’m not trying to jinx anyone) and they should have the most TOTS in the team. Their main force: attack. They have seriously good attack. Vincente Aboubakar scored 15 goals and got 5 assists, Cyle Larin on the left got 14 goals and 4 assists and Rachid Ghezzal (ex-Leicester player) on the right has 1 goal and 13 assists. Team is working well in attack and in midfield they have Josef Souza, who is playing like a defensive anchor between midfield and defense and has 2 goals and 3 assists. In defense Domagoj Vida should get TOTS. Probably the best CB in the league, also he scored 4 important goals for them. Valentin Rosier at Right back seems like the only choice for Right Back position. 1 goal and 4 assists and 3rd best defense in the league overall. This is probably it for Besiktas. I think there’s a chance for their captain – Atiba Hutchinson – can get TOTS, but I went with Souza instead of him.

From 2nd placed Galatasaray I have Marcao, who is the leader of the best defense in the league and Taylan Antalyali who’s been immense in midfield for Gala. Antalyali got 1 goal and 1 assist playing as defensive midfielder and his inclusion overall in TOTS is deserved in my opinion.

3rd we have Fenerbahce. From Fener I have Caner Erkin, who feels like played for ages already, but he’s back to his youth club and having nice season. He got 7 assists to his name and he’s main option for Left Back position in the league. Their goalkeeper – Altay Bayindir was immense this season. He saved a lot of points for Fener and got 9 clean sheets this season.

I have 3 attacking players from 4th placed Trabzonspor: Anastosias Bakasetas, Caleb Ekuban and Anthony Nwakaeme. Bakasetas got 12 goals and 2 assists out of 39 goals, Ekuban got 8 goals and 3 assists and Nwakaeme got 6 goals and 4 assists. Out of all them I think Bakasetas is a lock and out 2 are wild-card choices. Overall, if we’re including 18 players – I feel like them 2 deserve it too. Overall in Super Lig we haven’t seen a lot of goal scores this year, compared to other years. Aboubakar scored 15 goals and it’s the best result. Feels like we were getting players who scored 20+ goals previous years.

I included 2 players from 5th placed Alanyaspor, who conceded 2nd least amount of goals (only Gala conceded less), so I included Steven Caulker (anyone remember him playing as Striker for Liverpool in some games?). He actually was impressive this year, he got 2 goals and 2 assists too, and he should be 1st sub CB in the team. Salih Ucan played consistently well in the middle of the pitch and got 2 goals and 3 assists, also should be in TOTS.

And the last player: Max Gradel from Sivasspor. He got 9 goals and 9 assists, which is really impressive. Max Gradel is 33 years old, time flies. It’s the last player in my TOTS Prediction. It’s been a bit mixed, I went a bit different way, but it’s mostly because I included players from 5 clubs only.

Overall, I hope Turkish fans won’t be mad with me. I tried to be as unbiased as possible, I included players from different clubs and overall tried to make the best of what I’ve seenread. I know, it may have a bit too many Besiktas players in it, but they are sitting first and playing really well, so it was hard to exclude anyone.

I think we should get some SBCsMoments cards for this TOTS, as per usual, and we if we get 11 players team – someone from the bench should get SBC.
