Hello and Welcome to TOTS Premier League Predictions

This post-COVID season in Premier league is more weird (in my opinion) than even the last one. There are 8 games left in Premier League, when I’m writing this, so few things can change, but at least we should know champion pretty soon.

City started season slowly, but then came back and now cruising through the league. They are 14 points above 2nd place and they should get the most amount of TOTS this season. There have the best defense in the league with only 21 goal conceded (Chelsea conceded 4 more, strangely to me, as they sit at 4th place). So, City should get a majority of the spots in TOTS and I’ll later explain why and who should get it.

Next up – we have Manchester United comfortably sitting at 2nd place. Leicester not so far below them, so overall these 2 teams should get top 4 spots safely. But you’ll never know with Leicester, as it was kinda similar situation last season, when Leicester were sitting 3rd for majority of the season, but in the end didn’t even finish top 4. Both these squads should get few TOTS cards, even tho choosing them were hard.

Next up we have a race for 4th place: it’s a tight battle between Chelsea, West Ham (surprise of the season for most people), Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham. All sit pretty close to each other and last space is still undecided. I’ll include at least 1 player from those teams and explain why.

From the middle-table sides – I honestly dunno. There’s no much space left after I’ll include players from previously mentioned teams, but I’ll try to give some honorable mentions and maybe some moments cards for players from those teams.

That was a quick rundown of standings of the season, now it’s time to move to players deeper.

I hope I’ll get somewhat close TOTS, last year was decent, but I always try to improve, so let’s see what I can do.

Goalkeepers:

As per usual – there are a lot of options, but only 2 spaces in a team. Maybe they’ll include 3 goalkeepers, but I doubt, as they don’t sell packs. Main option is Ederson from City. Kinda obvious, as he has the most clean sheets in the league. I know that’s mostly because of City’s good defense – but I simply can’t ignore his amount of clean sheets. It’s not that easy to keep them, especially when they’ve started season pretty slowly and conceded a lot of goals early in the season.

2nd option is hard: Emi Martinez vs Nick Pope. For me Emi Martinez takes this spot. He came to Aston Villa before this season from decent summer with Arsenal and took that number 1 spot easily. 14 clean sheets (as I’m writing this article) is very good result. I know that Mendy from Chelsea also has 14, but let’s not go into comparison between Aston Villa and Chelsea. Aston Villa performed this season much better than previous one and Martinez is one of the reasons for that.

Nick Pope is a great goalkeeper in real life too, not only FIFA. Burnley will probably survive this season and his 9 clean sheets are one of the reasons for that. He had some memorable games this season, like game vs Liverpool at Anfield and overall had a nice year. Maybe he’ll get an SBC.

I know that there’re some Leeds fans that would like to see Meslier in this list, but I think he just narrowly loses to Pope in my opinion.

So yeah, my choice would be: Starter: Ederson, Bench: Martinez, SBCObjective: Pope

Defenders:

Left Back: Well. Last season I thought it was hard to pick anyone but Robertson in TOTS. This year it’s kinda the same, but with Shaw. Shaw had one of the best transformations across this season and became the best LB in Premier League for this season. 1 goal and 5 assists to his tally this season with some overall impressive performances – make him undisputed starter in my opinion.

BenchObjectiveSBC – it’s hard to choose other Left Back from Premier League. I feel like no one else deserves it. Maybe we’ll get Digne, like last year. Digne is a nice player, he got 6 assists this season, which is alright overall. Andrew Robertson is still a shout. 1 goal and 5 assists, like Shaw. But overall felt pretty good this season, probably the most consistent Liverpool defender this season (which isn’t that hard, when you had 20 CB pairings this season).

So yeah, IMO: Main squad: Shaw, Bench: Robertson, ObjectiveSBC: Digne.

Right Backs: This is kinda similar to Left Back, where is there’s a leader and few other candidates. Main choice, obviously: Joao Cancelo. Such a gem for Guardiola. Having insane 2nd season, after taking his time and settling in City’s squad. “Only” 1 goal and 3 assists this season, but overall very consistent performer and clearly number one RB in my Predictions.

Well… there’s no number 2? I couldn’t find any other RB that deserves to be in TOTS team. Trent – I doubt. Aaron Wan-Bisssaka? Maybe. But still pretty average, in my opinion. Ricardo Pereira? Hasn’t played enough games. Who else? Maybe Matt Cash from Aston Villa, but not sure. We’ll see what happens. But I think only Cancelo makes it.

Central Backs: first we have to start with City CBs: Ruben Dias and John Stones both must be included. Such an insane duo. Both are playing at insane level. Stones scores a lot of goals (4 goals in Premier League). Dias helped City to make defense tick, as people expected from him. It’s kinda mad that Dias is so young too. Maybe he’ll even get Youth POTY. We’ll see. But both should get some very nice TOTS cards.

Other than them I have: Michael Keane and Harry Maguire. English CBs, that play for Everton and Manchester United. People laugh and Maguire, but if we go by simple stats – he deserves to be in TOTS (like last year, as he got League SBC reward card with decent boost). I think it’ll happen this year too. I mean, he’s really good. Don’t let memes be memes, Harry Maguire is good.

Michael Keane is another English CB for this TOTS. Everton having better season than usual, but Keane is a leader of defense, he’s very good. He had some very remarkable performances this season and he should get TOTS too. I don’t have many more choices to be honest: Maybe someone from Chelsea, but I don’t know who. Thiago Silva might get some sort of SBC Flashback card, Rudiger – not really sure if he deserves it. Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool – just now. Dawson from West Ham? Maybe some sort of Silver Stars, but it’s really doubtful. Souyncu is possible, actually. Maybe someone from Leicester will get it, but I don’t think their defense is good enough (conceded same as Manchester United, West Ham). Maybe Gabriel from Arsenal will get it. But it’s hard. There aren’t many standout performances from center-back position this season, so that’s why it’s a bit hectic.

Midfielders:

Central Midfielders: Most stacked position of my predictions. Easiest to choose too.

Bruno Fernandes – will probably get Player of The Year, I think. He should get a higher rated card than TOTY, as we’ve seen happening previously with some players. Should I even say something about Bruno? He’s ridiculous, he’s messiah for United, he managed to get 10+ goals and assists and season isn’t over. He’ll get TOTS.

Ilkay Gundogan – another POTY shout. What a season for Ilkay. He’s having one remarkable season. Race between him and Bruno for POTY will be fun. Gundogan scored 10+ goals this season, played really well in most of games and I’m so happy for him, that after all injuries and hard time he managed to turn it around and playing at top level.

Kevin De Bruyne – another City player, another deserving one, in my opinion. KDB, maybe, hasn’t had as good of a season like a last year, but still (statistically) – he’s having very good one. 5 goals, 11 assists, highest average rating in the league, a lot of chances created, not his problem that City weren’t converting them. He should get a TOTS and he should get justice for TOTY and get a better card.

That were 3 starters, now let’s move to benchreservesetc.

There are 3 English Midfielders that are very good. It’s a debate between a lot of people between Grealish, Mount or Maddison. That’s why I’m including all 3 of them in predictions. All 3 of them had very good season. I won’t name the best, but everyone did something very good for his club: Grealish – played like a leader for Aston Villa, without him team played completely differently. Mount – best Chelsea player this season and only one that deserved TOTS from them in my opinion. Maddison – consistently good performances for Leicester. Stats of them: Maddison – 8 goals and 5 assists, Grealish – 6 goals and 10 assists. I think that explains it.

Other options for midfield: Thomas Soucek – leader of West Ham. Man, who actually transformed West Ham (with David Moyes, of course). Soucek had an insane run of games in winter, when he was scoring nearly in every game. 8 goals this season. Should get very good TOTS. Like veryyyy good TOTS. Other choice from West Ham – Declan Rice. Rice having maybe even better than his first breakthrough one (last year). He’s really consistent, wanted by many top clubs and I think he has a good chance of getting SBCObjective card like last year.

Last position will be occupied by Leicester player: Wilfred Ndidi vs Youri Tielemans. At first I included Ndidi, but then I looked at amount of games played by him. Maybe it won’t be enough. We’ll see. It just feels like Ndidi is too good of a card to pass on (Maybe Moments card incoming for him). Youri having a very nice season for Leicester (as a whole team too). 6 goals and 3 assists to his name. He settled well in Leicester and showing his great talent, that he was showing in Anderlecht. Spell in Monaco wasn’t good, but his Leicester part of career getting better and better with every season. Both cards would be good in FUT.

Wingers:

Left Wingers: Marcus Rashford and Heung Min Son. I don’t think that there’s a lot of debate for these 2 spotsplayers. Both having very good seasons. Son: 13 goals and 9 assists, Rashford: 9 goals and 7 assists.

Sometimes Rashford played at striker, but I’m sure he’ll get LW TOTS card. Both cards would be insane in FUT. Both are pretty popular in FUT, we’ll see both of them in FUT Champs and they’ll be very expensive too.

Right Wingers: Mohammed Salah and Riyad Mahrez.

Salah is another locked choice, at least in my opinion. 17 goals and 3 assists. Only Liverpool player that deserves to be in TOTS, in my opinion. He’s too consistent and overall I shouldn’t say much – stats speak for himself.

Mahrez – every time I exclude him from TOTS Predictions – he gets in. This time, I’m not repeating my mistake – he gets in. 9 goals and 4 assists to his name. Sometimes he might not be very consistent, but he produces magic on the pitch, after New Year he’s playing better and overall he’s getting consistent goal contributions. He should get some really fun TOTS.

Other than them? I honestly don’t know.

I think there’s a chance that Raphinha from Leeds will get some sort of Moments card, but apart from his – I actually dunno who may get some sort of TOTS card.

Mane? Been very average. Sterling? Too. Chelsea – not so good wingers, United? Right wing is a problem for them.

Maybe, just maybe we’ll get Moments Saka, as he’s been good for Arsenal. Maybe LW or RW. But still, I’m not sure about that. Spurs? Bale found his form too late, maybe Flashback for him. West Ham? Meh. Everton? Meh too. If you know someone – suggest to me and we can talk!

Stikers.
Unlike previous years – this year’s been very meh for Strikers in Prem. Some were injured, some underperformed, some players were just playing bad, some teams played without strikers at all. I’ve found 3 strikers that should get TOTS, but in my opinion only 1 deserved it.

Harry Kane – obvious starter choice. Not much to say for Harry Kane, he’s just really really good. 16 goals, 13 assists (insane numbers). He should get a very nice TOTS with some stats boosted from his highest rated card.

Other 2 strikers that I have in my predictions are both from England too, like Kane. First one is Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton. He had very strong first half of the season, but 2nd part going slower, but still 14 goals should be enough to secure TOTS. Would be a fun card for some players. I doubt Richarlison makes TOTS this season, so DCL takes a spot for Everton.

One more choice is Jamie Vardy. At first I wanted to include him, but Bamford looked to me like better option. Not saying he doesn’t deserve it, biggest problem – not a lot of competition. He still might get some sort of moments card (or even Flashback), he got 13 goals and 8 assists to his name

Manchester City – playing most of the season unusual tactics with hectic attack. Chelsea – well known striker problems. United? Same. Liverpool – let’s not speak about them. Even Auba having mediocre season. I can’t find anyone else. Danny Ings had some troubles for Southampton too.

Aubameyang might get some Moments card for his hat-trick vs Leeds, but I don’t think he deserves TOTS. Same goes for Watkins for his performances against Liverpool and Arsenal (would be actually fun fast card).

It’s hard to choose only 23 players, hopefully I’ll get most of the players right. I think I mentioned nearly everyone who can get TOTS cardObjectiveSBC sort of card for Premier League.

If you’ll disagree with me – it’s fine. I’ll hear everyone out. We’ll discuss everything too, as per usual!

I tried to be as unbiased as possible and tried to include players from different teams to make fans happier.

Hopefully this year TOTS will be good!
