FIFA 21: Player of the Month Predictions -La Liga May POTM
Last month of La Liga, last POTM, but I still hope we’ll get it. It was exciting season, and the last month was exciting aswell. There was an exciting title race, and as I’m writing it – 1 round left, so champion will be decided later this weekend. Most of the spots secured, but there are few things to decide, like who’ll get relegated with Eibar and who’ll get EL Spot or Conference league.
Few teams played well this month, but the best performer were Celta Vigo. They won every game this month and climbed up to 8th spot in table. Their main performer was Santi Mina. He scored 4 goals and got 1 assist this month. 2 of those goals were versus Barcelona, which neglected Barca chances at championship and overall he played fantastically this month. His potential card will be 84 (or 86, if he gets TOTW this Wednesday) and wouldn’t cost more than 20–30k IMO. He’s really meh card and I don’t think many of you would complete this SBC.
Next on the list I have – Real Betis player – Borja Iglesias. Betis went unbeaten this month too, with 2 wins and 2 draws, and Borja scored 3 out of 5 their goals. Overall pretty impressive month for a striker and overall not the worst season for him with 10 goals in 27 games (he only started 14 games too). Betis can get 5th spot in the last game day and I think it’ll be a big success for them. They had some good games this season, but also they had few bad streaks in winter. Overall they are my team to watch next season under Manuel Pellegrini. Borja would be 84 rated card and he’d be really cheap and discard value POTM. So imo no point in him getting it, sadly.
Next up we have EA favorite – Joselu. He got into TOTY nominee, he got into TOTS nominee, but he finally showed up IRL and actually carried his team Alaves to safety. Joselu scored 11 goals in 36 games this season, and 3 of those came up in the most important fixtures of the season. 1 goal in 2-2 draw vs Levante, 1 goal and 1 assist vs Elche (their opponent) in 2-0 win and 1 goal in 4-2 win over Granada. Would be really deserved nominee. I think his card would be 84 and really bad one, but people might vote for him because of the memes. Again – discard POTM, same as Borja.
Next on the list I have Luka Modric. Luka scored 1 goal this month, but that wasn’t the point I nominated him. I think nominating Benzema would be a bit useless, and Modric controlled games for Real Madrid really well. He got few MOTMs in 3 games he played and would be 89 POTM if he gets one. I expect really cheap POTM tho, around 83 rated squad, just to make 89 card affordable. If not Luka – Eder Militao will probably get a nominee. Or Toni Kroos. All of them were good for Real in the games they played. Obviously, Militao would be the most fun card, as it’d bring up some memories to FUT players.
And the last player before main nominee would be Marcos Llorente. Llorente really showed up in the last 2 months of La Liga and this month wasn’t an exception. He got 1 goal vs Elche (it was a winning goal), played decent versus Barcelona, got a crucial assist vs Sociedad and played well vs Osasuna. I can’t find any other player from Atletico Madrid that would deserve nominee, so Llorente would be my choice. His potential card would be 88, really similar to his TOTS, but would probably be a bit more affordable. Haven’t heard a lot of good things about his TOTS, but this could be a cheaper option to throw your fodder into. Would worth around 100k IMO.
And now to the main nominee.
Carlos Soler and his May in Valencia. I’ll call it a movie like this. 1 goal and 1 assist vs Barcelona in 3-2 loss with insane BANGER of a goal, 1 assist vs Valladolid, 2 goals and 1 assist vs Eibar. So. 3 goals and 3 assists this month. I don’t know where Valencia would be without him. I don’t know where is his TOTS. Man scored 11 goals and 8 assists and haven’t got TOTS, or even TOTS Moments. He should get Third IF on Wednesday and his POTM (potential one), could be his redemption for TOTS. I’d vote for him any day of the week.
Chances of winning: 60%
Possible requirements: He’d be 88 rated card and I think he’d require 84 rated squad at max. 83 more likely. But it would be a decent card to have imo.
Possible cost: I’d say 40k at max, if we’re talking about POTM SBC in June, but I can never predict it. It’s random.
So, in conclusion – I’d say it’s 2 horse race between Santi Mina and Carlos Soler. Soler would be my choice, but Mina deserves it too. I actually have no idea if we’ll get POTM for last month or not, but let’s hope we will.
