FIFA 21: Player of the Month Prediction - Premier League October POTM
New FUT – New POTMs. First POTM in Premier League, for September, should come out in early October.
It was a first month of a new season and it was a really exciting month. Headliners of the month were probably mostly from Liverpool City. Both clubs won 3 games out of 3 and both sit up top of the table.
Everton surprised everyone with some big signings, especially James Rodriguez and they showed their value in first games. But headliners were stolen by Calvert-Lewin. Reds of Liverpool played well too, but no one had THAT exceptional month, so I decided that Mane was the best performer of Liverpool at the start of the season.
Jamie Vardy doing Jamie Vardy things – 5 goals in first 3 games, Leicester won 3 games out of 3 for the first time in their history and also smacked City at Etihad with 3 goals by Jamie.
Spurs had a mixed start of the season, but Harry Kane was their best performer, not only if we count goals – he also assisted 5 times.
Aston Villa had a good month too, but I couldn’t highlight only 1 player. It’ll probably be Emi Martinez who’ll get nomination for 2 good games and decisive pen save against Sheffield United
Let’s start.
Jamey Vardy. As I’ve said – he had a very good month with 5 goals in 3 games, even tho he scored few penalties, he still has a nice chance at POTM award. His card in FUT 21 is really good and should fit meta, so his POTM should be rather expensive. Everyone would like to use a nice Vardy card, especially if he gets an IF due to his game vs City, so his POTM will be even higher rated.
Last year he had a nice and cheap POTM, one of the better valued SBCs that came out, so let’s hope for something similar, if he wins?
Chances of POTM: 30%
Tips for investing:
I expect it to be just few high rated squads.
You can invest in any 84-87 rated players from PL, maybe they’ll require some IFs, but nothing interesting. He’s English, not many things you can create with him. So basically any SBC fodder, should rise. People often use Serie A players for SBC solutions, because their cards mostly fodders. There’re many new fodders in game, so check them out. La Liga also produces some really good fodders, with the likes of David Silva
Worth investing? I wouldn’t invest in POTM SBCs at the start of the game, it’s usually just not worth it, as profit won’t be really meaningful.
Estimated cost: 150-250k. 89 rated card (if he gets and IF for City game), fast, fits meta. Should probably be more expensive, but as it’s first month of FUT – POTMs are kinda cheap. So let’s hope for a some discount.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
My main candidate for POTM. Guy had an amazing month for Everton. 5 goals, scored in every game, 1 hat-trick without penalties and was really impressive. For FUT reasons – his POTM would be more desirable than Vardy one, just due to him being much cheaper, as he’s lower rated and not as popular
Chances of POTM: 40%
Tips for investing:
Really don’t know what to suggest. His SBC wouldn’t be more than 50k, if we compare him to last year’s Pukki POTM. Actually pretty similar cases, as both would be desirable by community, both would have similar stats, both 84 rated cards, etc etc.
Worth investing? No, as I explained above
Estimated Cost: 50k. Can’t see it being more expensive. Should be really good SBC, many people would complete it due to him being good card, so on and so on. Would also have nice links, for example Richarlison.
I guess it’s 2 horse race between Calvert-Lewin and Vardy, but let’s cover other candidates too.
Harry Kane would be 89 or 90 rated card. Doesn’t fit meta and I think most people would skip it at the start of the game, unless it’ll be really cheap SBC. But can’t see 90 rated card being cheap at the start of the game. It’s not a time for fodders either.
James Rodriguez made an instant impact for Everton, controlling games and scoring 1 great goal and assisting 1 goal (thought it was more, but stats show 1 assist only). His card, on other side, wouldn’t be as good in FUT – he has pretty low pace and stamina. So POTM SBC wouldn’t fix it at all, but maybe some fans would like to have some fun and complete it. I think if James wins it’ll be pretty cheap SBC, wouldn’t worth more than 60k.
Few more choices: Patrick Bamford came to Premier Leagues with Leeds and scored 3 goals in 3 games, assisting 1 goal and overall playing pretty impressive. His SBC will probably around the same price as DCL – but his card would be miles worse (I guess, as I don’t know his FUT 21 card yet).
Sadio Mane is my last candidate for POTM, 3 goals in 3 games, but I don’t think he has a chance to win it. Just because – only 3 goals. Last few seasons – Mane always was getting POTMs, and it’s possible this year, but don’t think it’s possible this month. More candidates, better options and overall not as impressive, even tho opponents were hard enough.
I think it’ll be Calvert–Lewin who’ll win an award and it’ll be a nice SBC to start your Ultimate Team with.
