FIFA 21: Player of the Month Prediction - Ligue 1 May POTM
Last month, as expected, won Yilmaz. Carried Lille to the victory in few games, so it’s deserved winner.
This month was quite hard to predict, as we saw some interesting results, that decided relegation, championship and UCL spot too.
So, honestly, finding 3 candidates was hard enough task for me, but I’ll try to shout out few candidates before 3 main ones.
PSG and Lille went unbeaten this month and both drew 1 game each, Lille became champions – everyone, apart from PSG fans, happy. Monaco lost a very important game to Lyon at the start of the month, they also drew on the last match day, but Lyon decided to screw themselves over and lose a game to Nice in the last match day and so Monaco still finished 3rd.
I’ll repeat myself: finding more than 3 candidates was hard. Delort or Laborde from Montpellier look like a shout, both did very impressive this month: Laborde got 3 goals, while Delort got … 3 goals too. So yeah, they both performed good. Both of them can get TOTS too, but if we go by their POTMs, then:
–Delort would be 88 rated POTM, with 33 skills. Shouldn’t be expensive and just mostly be a fodder. I’d say around 80k coins for him.
–Laborde would be 87 rated POTM with 33 skills. Should be even cheaper, I’d say he’d be around 30k even if not less. I still doubt that we’ll get their POTMs, but at least I wanted to highlight their decent month.
Randal Kolo Muani from Nantes had a very impressive month too. Nantes nearly escaped relegation (and they did but they still have to play against 3rd place Tolouse in Ligue 2 to survive). Muani scored 3 goals and got 1 assist, his team mate Kalifa Coulibaly got 3 goals and 1 assist too over this month and, as I’ve said, Nantes got 3 wins and only 1 loss (to Montpellier, kinda ironic). So both would be… deserved nominees but I dunno about them winning an award:
–Muani would be 80 rated POTM with some really bad stats, he’s 33 and he’d be really cheap. Like 10k max.
-Kalifa Coulibaly would be 82 rated POTM with 23 and meh stats too. He’d be same price as Muani. Doubt that anyone wants one of them as POTM.
Now let’s cover 3 main candidates
Ben Yedder is my first candidate. Another month – another Ben Yedder nominee. He got 3 goals and 2 assists this month and that’s pretty impressive. Let’s see: he’s got a winning goal against Angers. 1 goal and 1 assist in 3-2 loss against Lyon, 1 winning assist vs Reims, 1 winning goal against Rennes. He didn’t do anything only in 0-0 draw and as we can see – his contributions were crucial for Monaco charge for Champions League.
In terms of FUT – it’s Ben Yedder, lads. Doubt anyone would be interested in it tho, as he’s more likely getting TOTS and his HL would be the same rating as this POTM potentially.
Chances of POTM: 30%
Estimated cost: 200-300k. Probably around that due to game cycle coming to an end and overall most of SBCs are quite cheap, so this potential card wouldn’t be too expensive.
Burak Yilmaz
Burak Yilmaz continues to spread Yilmaz propaganda. They just won the league and his 4 goals this month were crucial for their title. 1 goal vs Nice in 2-0 win, 2 goals vs Lens in 3-0 win, 1 penalty goal vs Angers in the last round to bring Lille to championship. If he gets this nominee – it’ll be very deserved. One of the better players at the finish of Ligue 1. I’ll repeat myself – one of main reasons why Lille won the title, plus his leadership played a big part too.
In terms of FUT – he’d be 89 rated card, but at the same time he should get TOTS too – 89 rated card would be great. And cheap. His 87 card was really cheap, so 89 would be around the same level.
Chances of POTM: 30%
Estimated Cost: 30-40k. Don’t expect it to be too much. Only difference – higher rating for a fodder.
Memphis Depay would be my 3rd choice for POTM award. And probably main choice for the award. Again, another month I’m nominating Depay for POTM. How can you not? 2 goals, 3 assists. 1 goal and 1 assist against Monaco in 3-2 win, 1 goal vs Nimes in 5-2 win, 2 assists in 3-2 loss vs Nice. He did everything he could in the last month of his Lyon career. He’s leaving it as probably one of the better transfers of Lyon history.
In terms of FUT: Same as other candidates – he’ll get TOTS, but POTM would be nice 90 rated card.
Chances of POTM: 30%
Estimated cost: 70-100k. Probably a bit more expensive than Yilmaz as he’d be way more usable, so yeah. But his TOTS should be really good.
I think it’ll be Yilmaz. Just because Lille won Championship. Otherwise – everyone I mentioned deserves TOTS. Yilmaz won the league with Lille, so that’s why I think he deserves it.
