FIFA 21: Player of the Month Prediction - Ligue 1 March POTM
New Month – New POTMs. Let’s discuss Ligue 1 POTM for March.
When I saw last month Ben Yedder, Mbappe and Depay in a voting – I knew that next month wouldn’t be as good. BUT, here we are and we might get another BIG POTM.
Let’s cover some candidates, who I think have a chance to get nominated.
Aurlien Tchouameni has a very nice chance of getting nominated this month for POTM. Young midfielder had a very nice month for Monaco. Even tho Monaco didn’t perform THAT well, he managed to get 1 goal and 1 cs in a game against Saint-Ettien, had a good performance against Lille and even in a lost game versus Strasbourg wasn’t terrible. If he somehow gets an award – he’d be 82 rated card, with some decent stats and would be really cheap too.
Martin Terrier is my next option. Rennes changed their manager recently and Bruno Genesio (new one) brought life back to Terrier. He had nice few games with 1 assist versus Strasbourg and 1 goal and 1 assist against Metz. Lowkey think he’ll get nominated, but won’t win an award. Would be cheap 84 rated POTM. Wouldn’t cost more than 30k.
Armand Lauriente would be my 3rd candidate that I didn’t nominate this month. He had a nice month for unbeaten Lorient. 1 assist versus Nice, 1 insane free kick versus Nantes. He also had 2 goals in last game in February, but doubt that it would count. Another cheap card, 82 rated too!
Let’s cover 3 main candidates
Kylian Mbappe is my first candidate. Mbappe just won an award and he now has a real chance to win it back to back! He managed to get 2 goals in 3-0 win over Brest, 2 goals in important tie against Lyon, but went missing versus Nantes, but it’s alright. Still the highest goalscorer of the month. Also had a nice game in a cup, but doubt that it counts. So yeah, Mbappe seriously can win an award!
In terms of FUT. What should I even say. Most meta card in FUT this year. I think this one would be striker, not LW. It’s hard. He played winger versus Lyon, but striker against Brest. Although he was a striker against Nantes. We’ll see how it goes.

Tips for investing:
What should you invest for Mbappe… as his POTM is very expensive – only fodders rise for him. PSG don’t have enough good tradable options, so only fodders rise for POTM like this. Again – because of previous POTM fodder is really expensive (and because of constant content) – but if it’ll drop, you may buy it.
Worth investing? I wouldn’t go hard on it, because his POTM would be released nearly sure during TOTS, so I wouldn’t spend that much on card like him.
Estimated cost: 1.7-2.2 million. Probably around that. Honestly hard to predict. I hope if he wins – it’ll be around the same price of his 1st POTM, so people wouldn’t feel like they’d miss out. And also I hope it’d be Striker.
Jonathan Clauss
Well, that’s a surprise of the season here. Kenny Lala version 2. RWB that scores, assists and leader of the club. Lens, newly promoted side are 5th in table, straight after big four. It’s insane. Clauss is the leader of it. He had a very good month with 2 assists versus Strasbourg and 1 goal against Metz. Overall he just nearly had Silver Stars card and he might get SIF the week I’m writing it. If he’ll get an IF – his potential POTM would be 86 rated card with some insane stats. Even his 85 rated would have nice stats, his TOTS is going to be crazy good too!
Chances of POTM: 20%
Tips for investing:
He’d be cheap 85. I wouldn’t invest in card like this overall.
Worth investing? No, I don’t think it is.
Estimated Cost: 50-80k. Shouldn’t worth more than that. But TOTS will be completely different. Just think it’ll be one of the better French RBs (probably the best, considering Malcuit price).
Amine Gouri would be my 3rd choice for POTM award. Somehow he didn’t even get nominated last month, even tho he had more goals than Mbappe and Ben Yedder, so this month he should get at least nominated. He managed to score 2 goals and get 1 assist in 3 games. 1 goal and 1 assist versus Marseille, 1 goal vs Nimes, pretty slow game versus Lorient, but it shouldn’t affect overall nomination imo.
In terms of FUT: Ughh… Very meh card, worse than Boulaya. He doesn’t even have an IF, so he’ll just be 82 rated card with some average stats, sadly.

Estimated cost: 15-20k. Same as Boulaya. 82 rated card, for managerial masterpiece at max. Would be the least completed POTM, in my opinion.
I think it’ll be Mbappe. Very weird month with only 3 games played by most teams – so overall we may get some random nominees, but Mbappe still should win it with the most amount of goals, while performing versus Lyon matters too.
