FIFA 21: Player of the Month Prediction - Ligue 1 April POTM

New Month – New POTMs. Let’s discuss Ligue 1 POTM for April.

Last month was important in title race and few teams apart from top 4 clubs had a good month. Marseille under new coach and Rennais under new manager doing wonderful sprints towards the end of the season and will battles Lens for 5th spot, while 4 clubs will battle for Championship.

This month 3 main candidates were pretty obvious to me, unlike last month, but let’s cover those who I didn’t include.

For example: Memphis Depay. Depay had an alright month: scored 2 vs Angers and 2 vs Nantes. But I already gave up on Depay getting POTM this FUT. He had too many months where he unfairly missed out and this time I feel like it’ll be the same. Also the fact that he didn’t perform well vs Lens and Lille plays part too. If he wins (somehow) he’ll be 90 rated card and would cost around 250k in my opinion. Shouldn’t be more than that as he’ll get TOTS too.

Martin Terrier from Rennes living his best life under new manager. He managed to get 4 goals and 1 assist this month in 3 wins for Rennains. As I’ve said before – Rennais had a good showing under new coach and sprinted from midtable to a race for 5th spot. I don’t deny that he can get nominated and win it, as it’d be deserved, just found other options to be more likely. If he wins – it’d be either 86 or 87 rated card with some nice stats and would be cheap (shouldn’t be more than 50k).

I guess Ben Yedder deserves a nomination too. He got… 5 goals and 1 assist this month and it was hard to exclude him from main 3 picks, but hear me out – Monaco played well, Monaco got 2 pens, which Ben Yedder scored, but main highlight to me it was that Monaco kept all 4 clean sheets in 4 games and overall Aurilien Tchouameni was a bigger highlight to me from Monaco. Ben Yedder easily can win an award, if he can get nominated, he’d be 89 rated, similar to his HL and would cost around 400-500k I guess?

Let’s cover 3 main candidates

Kylian Mbappe is my first candidate. Another month – another Mbappe nominee. 5 goals and 1 assist, same as Ben Yedder. He scored 2 vs Metz, 2 in amazing game vs Saint-Ettien, managed to get 1 goal and 1 assist vs Strasbourg and didn’t get a contribution in 1-0 loss vs Lille, where defenders kept him at bay. Overall it’d be pretty deserved POTM, but I doubt that we’ll get him, as he’ll be in TOTS obviously and there’s a better candidate.

In terms of FUT. Would be striker, as he played striker in 3 games, and LW only once. Do I need to say anything about Mbappe? It’s Mbappe!

Chances of POTM: 30%

Tips for investing:

What should you invest for Mbappe… as his POTM is very expensive – only fodders rise for him. PSG don’t have enough good tradable options, so only fodders rise for POTM like this. Again – because of previous POTM fodder is really expensive (and because of constant content) – but if it’ll drop, you may buy it.

Worth investing? I wouldn’t go hard on it, because his POTM would be released nearly sure during TOTS, so I wouldn’t spend that much on card like him.

Estimated cost: 1.7-2.2 million. Probably around that. Honestly hard to predict. I hope if he wins – it’ll be around the same price of his 1st POTM, so people wouldn’t feel like they’d miss out. And also I hope it’d be Striker.

Burak Yilmaz
Burak Yilmaz is honestly a surprise of the season to me. What a month he had – maybe it’s not as much, compared to other options, but he scored 2 goals vs Lyon and got 1 assist vs them, scored a goal vs Metz and overall been really impressive for Lille. Lille are on the verge of becoming champions and Burak played important part of that with 12 goals and 5 assists this season. Doubt that he’ll get TOTS, so this POTM would be a deserved card for him. It’d be 86 rated card with some nice stats and would be cheap too.

Chances of POTM: 30%

Tips for investing:

He’d be cheap 86. I wouldn’t invest in card like this overall.
Worth investing? No, I don’t think it is.

Estimated Cost: 50-80k. 86 card without any significant stat. Only links are nice, but that’s all.

Dimitri Payet would be my 3rd choice for POTM award. And probably main choice for the award. He’s having an amazing April: 3 goals and 5 assists in 4 games. Marseille went unbeaten vs Dijon, Montpellier, Lorient and Reims and Payet carried them together with Pol Lirola. Payet actually deserves this award, if we go simply by impact on the pitch and team overall. We’ll see if he’ll get it.

In terms of FUT: Pretty similar to his FUT Birthday card, maybe with some better and some worse stats. Not the worst CAM.

Chances of POTM: 35%

Tips for investing:

Just don’t.

Worth investing?No.

Estimated cost: 50-60k. Same as Yilmaz. In my opinion – if he wins – he shouldn’t be same price as Birthday, but he should be much lesser overall. He probably won’t get TOTS as he hasn’t had a good season overall (and as a whole club too), but it would be a honorable award for him!

I think it’ll be Payet. Very hard month to predict. A lot of great performances and a lot of deserved nominees. We’ll see how it goes. Maybe Ben Yedder will win it. But my vote goes for Payet.
