FIFA 21: Player of the Month Prediction - La Liga October POTM

La Liga POTM for October. We’re trying something new this month, as EALa Liga announced nominees earlier than last game this month was played, so I’ll discuss every nominee and who will have the most chance of winning and their potential cards in FUT.

I hope you’re okay with it and next month I’ll be more careful, as I thought game on 31st of the month counts towards POTM, but not in La Liga apparently.

Let’s start this.

Mikel Oyarzabal probably is the favorite to win POTM. He had very strong month for Real Sociedad with 4 goals and 2 assists in 3 wins. Very impressed by Sociedad this year, even without Odegard they’re playing well and currently sit and the top of the table.

What can we expect if Oyarzabal wins? We can expect another LW from La Liga. 88 rated with very good face stats. But if we’ll look closer – he has 3* Skills and 3* WF which is far from ideal for a winger.

Chances of POTM: 30%

Tips for investing:
84-85 rated cards? I expect really easy SBC if he wins – it’ll be 88 rated card, but most likely it’d be used as a fodder for most of the people. I expect max 84+85 rated squad and even then it’s too much in my opinion.

Worth investing? Overall – next month will be insane for POTMs, in other leagues we can expect some mad expensive POTMs, maybe even Icon SBCs, so I expect fodder to rise. I think it’s nearly the best time to invest in Fodder.

Estimated cost: 70-100k. I think he’ll be around this price, but I still think it’s too much. 33 is too big of liability to make him usable. Maybe it’ll be changed with Winter Upgrades.

Thibaut Courtois
2nd candidate for POTM. Honestly, if I was making predictions – I wouldn’t include Thibaut, but then I looked at his stats and I understood why he is included. 3 games played, 1 CS, 1 loss to Cadiz, which I wouldn’t name as his fault and very good performance vs Barcelona in Classico. He’s fan favorite in FUT and one of the few GKs that actually won POTM award in FUT (if I’m not mistaken he’s the only one).

His potential POTM card would be 91 rated and that’s a very good card. Many people loved his NIFIF due to link with RamosVaraneMilitao and he feels good in game, so I understand why people would vote for him. I personally voted for him due to FUT reasons.

Chances of POTM
: 33%

Tips for investing:

He wouldn’t require a lot, but I think he’ll be more expensive than Oyarzabal, for example due to popularity in game. So 85-87 fodder is the move. I wouldn’t go too hard just for him, but overall, if you’re planning to get some POTMs next month – I’d buy fodder.

Worth investing? As I’ve said above – I think it’s worth investing.

Estimated Cost: 120-150k. His IF going for 120k right now, this POTM should be 1 rating higher, so I expect SBC to be a bit more expensive.

Luis Suarez would be my 3rd favorite for POTM from those who were nominated. 2 goals in 3 games, again I wouldn’t say it’s something exceptional and that he deserves POTM, but this month in La Liga was strange enough, so I understand why he was nominated. Maybe Barca missing him a bit, as he scored already 4 goals in 5 games in La Liga.

His card in FUT this season isn’t the quickest, but some still may use him. Personally I enjoy strikers like him as I’m a big fan of Lewa’s cards, but 3* Skill Moves ruins Suarez a bit. His potential POTM card would be 90 rated card with some really nice stats.

Chances of POTM: 29%

Tips for investing:

Same as Oyarzabal and Courtois. I don’t think he’ll worth more than them, so I expect at least 85 and 86 rated squads for him.

Worth investing? As I’ve said above – yes, fodder should rise next month.

Estimated cost: 100-150k. His IF worth around 80k, so this card should be 2 ratings higher, so I expect at least 120k for him.

There’re few other candidates. Let’s cover them separately, as they don’t have a chance of winning, but let’s mention them.

Daniel Parejo had a strong showing for his new club Villarreal, especially vs his previous club Valencia, by getting MOTM and scoring 1 goal, also he was decent in other game vs Atletico Madrid, but he only played 2 games this month, so he shouldn’t have a chance of winning. His Potential card would be 88 rated with some decent stats, but again, it’s so slow – it won’t be used at all, so it’ll be fodder. Potential price: 60k.

German Sanchez from Granada had a very good month. Granada is very nice team that had nice month with 2 wins and draw, he scored a goal and helped his team to keep clean sheet in games against Sevilla and Getafe. His FUT card, sadly, isn’t good. It’ll be 84 rated, if he wins, but it’s really not usable card. Potential price: 20k.

Pere Milla from Elche. Elche had decent month with 2 wins and 1 draw, which is really impressive, knowing their budget, but Milla doesn’t look like the best candidate. He only scored 1 goal. No chance of POTM, but his potential card is 82 rated. Potential price: 10k.

Jeremias Ledesma is the last candidate for POTM. But not least. 4 games this month for Cadiz – 3 cleansheets, wins over Real Madrid, Atletico Bilbao, draws vs Granada and Villarreal. Very decent showing, but due to his unpopularity – chances of winning POTM are close to 0%. Potential price: 10k.

I think Courtois will win it. Due to popularity and hype in game. Oyarzabal the most deserved player, but if we consider all the facts – Courtois is just better choice.
