FIFA 21: Player of the Month Prediction - La Liga January POTM
La Liga POTM for January. I’m writing this article before last match day, because La Liga announcing their nominees a bit before last match day, so here we are. Hopefully I’ll be right with some predicted players.
This month was very interesting in La Liga, most of the top teams performed well, and even tho 4 teams participated in Super Cup: Real, Barca, Atletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad – players from those teams still performed in at least 3 games, and performed well enough to get nominated.
Let’s cover some options from low chance to high chance in my opinion and we’ll start with Dani Parejo. Dani Parejo played well for Villarreal this month, in which they lost to Sevilla and won 2 games and drew 2 more. Parejo had an awesome average match rating and got 1 goal and 1 assist in their 4-0 win over Celta Vigo. His FUT card wouldn’t be as good tho. He’d be 89 rated card with low pace but nice stats apart from that. His price would be around 90k or so. Don’t think it’d be worth more than that as it’d be mostly fodder.
Next player is Toni Kroos. Him and Luca Modric played very important part in good Real month (at least in La Liga), Toni was the best player for Real Madrid with high average rating and he got 2 assists in 4 games. Real Madrid didn’t lose a game and got 2 wins and 2 draws this month. His FUT card is very similar to Parejo, so I don’t expect anything more than 90k too. Again, sadly a fodder because of pace, he needs a Flashback card or something to boost his pace. POTM won’t be enough for that.
Next on the list is Sergio Canales. He played crucial part in decent month for Betis. He scored 5 goals in 5 games, Betis only lost 1 game vs Levante, and even there Canales scored 2 goals. Betis is very interesting team to watch and Canales is their leader at the moment. His FUT card would be actually quite good and in my opinion a bit underrated (if he’ll get an IF – his possible POTM would be 87, otherwise it’d be 86). He looks somewhat close to Bruno from Premier League and has 4 stars skills too. I’ll say that he’d cost around 100k or so as he’ll be pretty usable, but not so popular.
Next one on the list is Leo Messi. He’ll be nominated as usual, but for real he had a good month. Only problem with him is that he played only 3 games, compared to 4-5 for others. If he won’t get nominated – Frenkie De Jong will be nominated instead of him. Messi scored 4 goals and got 1 assist in those 3 games, which is really impressive. I wonder if he wouldn’t get a red card in Super Cup game – his stats would be better probably. But still. He probably should be nominated. Estimated cost – a lot. Probably around 1.7 million. His 96 is quite expensive, it’s 1.5 million and this one should be even more expensive. Possible De Jong price is 200k and his rating
Let’s move to main candidates.
Youssef En-Nesyri is my favorite to win POTM. He scored amazing 7 goals this month, which included 2 hat-tricks and Sevilla had an insane run this month with only 1 loss in 6 games against Atletico Madrid. Youssef became a leading firing power for Sevilla and it’s nice to see.
Sadly his FUT card isn’t the best. Yes, it has nice stats, but it’s typical striker with 3* skills and 4* WF, nothing to shine, kinda similar to Aspas POTM. He’ll have some nice links, but that’s all
Chances of POTM: 50%
Tips for investing:
I wouldn’t invest in this POTM. He’d be really cheap so no point in investing for him.
Worth investing? No, as I’ve said above – no.
Estimated cost: 60-80k. His IF is 15k, so it’s the same case as Delort for Ligue 1: cheap card with some nice stats, but not many people would use him.
Luis Suarez is another choice for POTM. Suarez had insane month in La Liga: 5 goals and 1 assist in 5 games and so many clutch goals. 34 years of age striker carrying Atletico to the title with his goals. He still continues to impress me and it’s really nice to see him working well together with Joao Felix and Atletico in general.
His potential card would be 90 rated. He just got recently Moments Objective card, so this POTM will be a bit worse (and without 4* skills), so his price would be around 100k or so. It’s the month of 100k POTMs and Messi. His recent IF costs around 70k and that’s why I expect SBC to be around 100k. Not many people would compete him, as they’ve got his 91 rated card, which will be just better anyway.
Chances of POTM: 25%
I think En-Nesyri will win it. He deserves it. Personally I’d vote for Canales as he’d be pretty much the most useful out of the bunch, but Youssef deserves it completely. We’ll see, hopefully I’ll hit a lot of right predicted players and be satisfied. Thank you for reading and as per usual I’ll reply questions on Twitter.
