FIFA 21: Player of the Month Prediction - La Liga August POTM
Well, well, well. August is over and it’s time for POTMs. I honestly don’t know if we’ll get first POTM for FUT 22 for August or last in FUT 21, but nevertheless we should get him.
In this article we discussing first month of La Liga. Very close month, especially up top. 6 teams have 7 points after 3 games: Valencia, Mallorca, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Real and Barcelona. Mallorca and Valencia had surprisingly good start to a season, while 4 other teams were expected to start well and fight for a title. Fun part of this article, that I nominated 5 players from 3 teams. Let’s move from less chance of winning to higher chance of winning.
As I don’t know when we’ll get POTM SBC – I’ll be using FUT 21 ratings, so don’t be mad if you’ll think that it’ll be useless card. Yeah, I know that.
First one I have is Valencia player: Goncalo Guedes. He had a very consistent month, but only scored 1 goal and got 1 assist, but it was in 3-0 win vs Alaves. In games vs Getafe and Granada – he didn’t score or register an assist, but overall was solid in those games too and Valencia took 7 points from those teams, which is nice. Still think that their main signing is coach from Getafe who’s really good. If Guedes will get nominated and win an award – he should get 86 rated card and would cost around 10k.
Next in line I have Sevilla player: I think both Erik Lamela and Marcos Acuna had good showings. Lamela scored 3 goals: 2 in 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano and 1 winning goal vs Getafe, Acuna was clutch in a draw vs Elche, saving point with his only goal. I still think that Lamela has a pretty high chance of winning and if he’ll win – he’d get 85 rated card and would cost 10k or so. Or would be a nice starting option for FUT 22.
Then I have 2 Dutch players from Barcelona. Since Messi left – new era began for Barcelona and Depay with Frenkie De Jong are now the most important players for Barcelona in my opinion. Frenkie assisted 2 goals for Barcelona in 2 wins: 1 assist vs Sociedad and 1 assist vs Getafe. Depay scored goal vs Getafe, scored 1 goal vs Athletic Bilbao in 1-1 draw and got an assist vs Real Sociedad. He seems like he settled well in Barcelona squad. So, if Frenkie gets nominated and win – he’d get 89 rated card and would cost around 50k, Depay would be 90 rated card (because of previous Lyon cards) and would cost around the same.
Last 2 players I have in line are Real Madrid players: Casemiro had a good month for Real Madrid. He was very important in 3 games: played consistent in 4-1 win over Alaves, got an assist in 3-3 draw vs Levante and had a nice game vs very hard opponent Real Betis. Overall Casemiro is a leader of Real Madrid right now, but in terms of FUT not many players would like his POTM: he’d be 92 rated card and would cost around 70k I think? I don’t know about price for cards like this, to me it’s just a fodder.
And the main candidate is: Karim Benzema from Real Madrid. I’ve listed Real Madrid scores before, but now let’s talk about Benzema’s contribution to them: 2 goals vs Deportivo Alaves, 2 assists vs Levante and 1 assist vs Betis. He was by far the most impressive player in La Liga at the start and should get his POTM in my eyes.
Chances of POTM: 70%
I think he’ll win it. If he’ll win – his card will be 95 rated and would worth around 70k, I think. His card would be very nice, but he has better TOTS, so not many people would care. If he’ll win it in FUT 22 – he’d be very nice option for Marquee player at the start of the season.
I think the start of La Liga is exciting, I honestly think that there are 4 candidates for a title this season and it’s interesting to see some teams evolve as long-term leaders of those squads are leaving (Ramos, Messi, for example). Maybe Atletico will win 2nd title in a row, maybe Sevilla will improve on last year’s result. It’ll be very exciting season.
