FIFA 21: Player of the Month Prediction - La Liga April POTM
La Liga POTM for April. As per usual – I’m trying to be ahead of the curve, even writing this article before 2 to last match day this month. Hopefully I’ll be faster than La Liga this time too.
Overall pretty close month again, no real favorite this time, but I think we should get some unexpected nominees that can win an award.
As per usual – I’m starting article with less likely to win candidates and moving one by one to more likely.
Problem is that I have only 3 games for each player to work with, that’s why it’s not as clear as other months, but we always see some surprise nominees.
First candidate is Benzema. Yeah, again Benzema. I doubt that he’ll win it this month again. He had great month with 2 goals in 3 games. He scored versus Eibar and versus Barcelona in El Clasico, but didn’t play much with Getafe, and that affected his overall rating. Still should get a nominee, I feel like. I don’t know who from Real can be and should be nominated apart from him, maybe it’ll be Kroos. Benzema POTM would be 95 rated, same as his Headliner and would cost around 200k if I’m not mistaken. I guess it’ll still be a nice card, but TOTS among us and Benzema will for sure get TOTS.
Sergio Herrera from Osasuna is my next candidate. He had a pretty good month and managed to keep 2 clean sheets in 3 games and had a good game versus Villarreal, that Osasuna managed to win. Osasuna overall kept a lot of clean sheets because of Herrera performances, but sadly in my mind he doesn’t have a chance to win an award. He’d be 86 rated, as he already had IF and would cost around 20k at max, in my opinion.
Fernando from Sevilla is my next option for POTM. Fernando managed to score 2 goals in 3 games for Sevilla over this month, he scored 2 very important goals. He scored 1 goal in 4-3 win over Celta and 1 goal in a win over Real Sociedad. Fun fact: these were the first 2 goals by him this season. Sevilla, I think, securing 4th spot in La Liga comfortably and overall Fernando played well this month. Fernando’s card would actually be alright, but, as per usual with POTMs closer to the end of the season – they are a bit behind the curve. I expect at max 80k for 87 rated POTM card, if he manages to win an award.
Iago Aspas is back, back again. Another 23 great games by him. 1 goal and 2 assists in 3-1 win and 2 goals in 3-4 loss versus Sevilla. What a banger of a game it was to be fair. Aspas having an unreal season for Celta and he should get a beautiful TOTS card, but still he should be nominated for this POTM award. His potential POTM card would be 90 rated and would cost… I’d say 100k? I don’t know. I think previous Aspas POTM was a bit overpriced, and his latest 88 IF is 60k on the market. 90 rated shouldn’t be more than 100k in my mind.
Rafa Mir from Huesca is another candidate. He scored 4 goals in 3 games, 2 goals in a win over Levante and 2 goals in a win over Elche. Both wins helped Huesca to climb out of relegation spot and it’s huge for this club. Win versus Elche was really important, as they are their main opponents in a battle for survival. Rafa Mir already had IF this season and he scored 12 goals in La Liga this season, so he’s far from bad player (and he belongs to Wolverhampton, he should be back in England in summer, unless something changes and Huesca buys him). His potential POTM would be 84 rated and wouldn’t cost more than 30k in my opinion. So yeah.
Gerard Moreno is my main candidate. Gerard having an insane 2021, I feel like he’s been top 3 players in La Liga overall this season after Messi and Benzema. Just look at his stats: 26 games, 20 goals and 5 assists. He’ll get a fantastic TOTS again, but for now he should win POTM award. Just a fun stats. He registered a goal or assist in 9 out of 10 last games. He only didn’t score or assist versus Osasuna, previously mentioned club. He scored 3 goals versus Granada and 1 goal versus Levante in 5-1 win. I hope he’ll finally win an award, because it feels like I’m nominating him each month.
His FUT card would be 89 rated, he’d have some great stats, but 3* skill moves might not be enough to make him usable. Even though his TOTS should be very fun. I think I can compare this potential card to POTM Aspas 89 card. Both 89 rated, both strikers, both Spanish and overall both performing amazingly well this season.
Chances of POTM: 50%
Tips for investing:
I don’t recommend investing in this POTM. Nothing would change on the market ifwhen he’ll be released. I hope they’ll release him like Kostic for Bundesliga: cheap and good fodder.
Worth investing? I’ve explained above.
Estimated cost: 50100k. His 87 MOTM is 35k. I don’t think that it should be more than 50k, but it’s not up to me, they can do anything they want. I just recommend you not completing it, unless it’ll be a fodder value, because he’ll for sure get TOTS.
I think it’ll be really close race between Aspas and Moreno. I think it should be one of them. Rafa Mir had a good month too and I won’t be surprised if he wins, but for me – the winner is Moreno. I hope I’ll guess it right, I hope to get at least 37 nominees right too, so let’s see how it goes.
