FIFA 21: Player of the Month Prediction - Bundesliga May POTM
Last month was won by Haland and to me it was kinda a surprise. I understand that nominees weren’t the best, and Lewa wasn’t even nominated, so Haland was nearly automatically a winner. Let’s hope this month would be better for variety, but I still predict one of the ex winners to receive another POTM. Let’s see what we have here.
As per usual – we’re about to cover some candidates that can get nominees, but won’t win an award. Let’s do this.
We’re starting with Alexander Schwolow from Hertha. To me he was one of the reasons Hertha survived in Bundesliga this season. He had a few decent games last month, kept 2 clean sheets and his average rating by Kicker was alright. I’ll be honest – he’s a wild pick because I couldn’t find 6th obvious candidate. Anyone could be here, but I’ve went for Schwolow for reasons I’ve wrote above. His potential POTM would be 84 rated card and would link to Boyata, if anyone uses him and wouldn’t cost more than 10k.
Next up we have Andre Silva. Frankfurt had a rough month overall, they lost to Schalke and lost UCL spot by 2 points. Really sad for them, because they had an immense season overall. Their leader of the season – Andre Silva still had a good month. He scored 3 goals and got 1 assist, he was fighting until the end and broke a record of Frankfurt top goalscorer in the season. His goals were against: 2 vs Schalke in 4-3 loss and 1 goal in 3-1 win vs Freiburg on the last matchday. He also got an assist in 1-1 draw vs Mainz. Yeah, Eintracht choked UCL hard. They got only 4 points out of last 12 available and that’s why I don’t think there’re a lot of chances on Silva’s 2nd POTM. His POTM would be 89 rated and wouldn’t cost more than 50k just for fodder.
3rd player I have is Erling Haland once again, I guess. Overall BVB had an insane run at the end of the season and won all the games in May, won Pokal too and finished 3rd in Bundesliga, after really hard season for them. I’ll describe both Haland and Sancho, who I nominate here, but honestly I don’t think one of them would win an award and I’ll explain why a bit later. Overall whole attacking trio of Reus, Haland and Sancho performed amazingly well. Sancho got 2 goals and 2 assists, Haland got 2 goals and 1 assist, Reus got 3 goals. Haland got 2 goals on the last match day in 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen, 1 assist in 3-1 win over Mainz, that guaranteed them UCL spot. Sancho had 2 assists vs Mainz, 2 goals in important game vs RB Leipzig. Both would be deserved. Sancho’s 2nd POTM would be 90 rated LM (that’s mostly where he played lately) and Haland’s 3rd POTM would be 91 rated ST. Both prices – I’d say around 100–120k tbh. I dunno, both are pretty popular, but we’re in May and both had better cards already.
Let’s move to main candidates.
Robert Lewandowski is my main candidate. Again. Yes. But listen. He came back after injury and had another insane month and he also broke 50 years old record. He got 5 goals and 1 assist over this month and to be honest he could’ve got at least 3 more goals. He wasn’t finishing well, but still he managed to score 41 goals in 1 season of Bundesliga. Mad achievement. He got 3 goals and 1 assist vs Monchengladbach, 1 goals in 2-2 draw vs Freiburg, 1 goal in 90th minute in 5-2 win over Augsburg. What more people want from him?
In terms of FUT… He’d get 95 rated POTM. Unless he’ll get some sort of record breaker card, then it’d be 96 rated one. Yeah, he has a better TOTS and TOTY, and yeah this card won’t be as desirable, but it still would highlight his great season. We’ll see how it goes.
Chances of POTM: 35%
Estimated cost: 300k. His 94 rated IF is still around 300k on both platforms, I expected it to be less, but I guess 95 rated POTM would cost around that too.
And the last, but not least candidate is Andrej Kramaric. To me – he was robbed of TOTS. Statistically he’s 2nd best player in Bundesliga. He got 20 goals and 5 assists over the season and he couldn’t get a TOTS? What’s this. He carried Hoffenheim this season and probably leaving this club. Without him? I dunno, Hoffenheim probably would fight for relegation. This month was exceptional for Kramaric. 3 goals and 2 assists. He got overall in the last 5 games 6 goals and 2 assists. He got 1 goal and 2 assists in 4-2 comeback over Schalke, he got a goal in 1-1 draw against Arminia Bielefeld and got a winning goal against Hertha in 2-1 win. Honestly he deserved so much more than 86 highest card this season.
To me he’s a favorite to win an award. His POTM would be 88 rated, it’d be the last POTM of this season for Bundesliga and it’d be kinda ironic, because he won the first one and could’ve won the last one. Also he’d be kinda cheap card, I’d expect around 30k or so. With some nice stats too.
Chances of POTM: 45%
Let’s see what we’ll have, but this is my take on the last Bundesliga POTM.
