FIFA 21: Player of the Month Guide - La Liga December POTM
La Liga POTM for December. I was nearly safe, as La Liga wasn’t announcing POTM Nominee until 30th of December, but they did it during last match day of the year and I’m always curious why they do it. But here we are.
As usual lately, this is more of a guide, then predictions, but still, I don’t know the winner, so it’s a prediction too. I have to choose 1 out of 7 nominees.
This month is actually closer than few previous one, a lot of decent candidates and everyone can find a card to vote for.
Best teams of the month are: Atletico Madrid with 4 wins in 5 games, Sevilla with 3 wins in 5, and of course Real Madrid with 5 wins out of 5. Celta is a major surprise of the month too – 4 wins and 1 draw in 5 games.
Obviously Benzema was nominated, he was carrying Real Madrid hard and if he’ll win it – it’ll be deserved one.
Let’s cover some candidates who are nominated, but I don’t think will win an award.
Mario Hermoso is one player from Atletico who got nominated. Overall he and team had a solid month, won vs Real Sociedad and won 4 out 5 games, lost only Madrid derby. Atletico kept 2 clean sheets and Hermoso scored important goal vs Sociedad. It’s really unlikely that he’ll win, but if he does – it’ll be sick 85 rated card with some insane stats for CB. Predictions price: 100k.
Javier Ontiveros got nominated from Huesca. Huesca won 1 game out of 5, Ontiveros scored 1 goal, 1 pen and that’s all. Honestly dunno what to say. Would be 84 rated card and would worth 30-40k.
Leo Messi got nominated, Barca had decent month with 3 wins out of 5 and Messi got 3 goals and 1 assist in those games, with average rating of 8,6. But I don’t think he wins an award. Not this month. I just feel like it’s not the right month for Messi to win it. If he’ll win it – it’d be sensational 96 CF card. And which would worth around 1.5 million coins, I’d say?
And the last candidate who is nominated but won’t win an award is Gerard Moreno from Villarreal. They had a good unbeaten run, Moreno was decent in most of the games with average rating of 7,9 and got 2 goals. His card would be 87 rated right winger and would worth around 80-100k.
Let’s move to main candidates.
Karim Benzema is my favorite to win POTM. Karim found insane form, carried Real Madrid in La Liga and Champions league, Benz scored 4 goals and got 2 assists in those 5 games in La Liga and should win the award, if we go by impact on the team and importance to the team.
In terms of FUT he’d be nice 92 rated striker. His stats are kinda similar to Lewa, but with better links (debatable) and tucked in shirt. Last year, when he won POTM, he was really cheap and that might be the case this year too.
Chances of POTM: 40%
Tips for investing:
I wouldn’t invest in this POTM. Not because he’s not a good card, but because I expect him to be a fodder value.
Worth investing? No, as I’ve said above – no. You can get some 83-84 rated cards, but they are very inflated due to constant random SBCs we’re getting every day or so.
Estimated cost: 100-150k. His SIF is around 100k, so I expect same price for POTM too. As I’ve said – it’s more of a fodder than usable card, but I’m sure there will be users who’d love to get shiny Benz in their team.
Iago Aspas is another choice for POTM. 3 Goals and 3 Assists this month, Celta went unbeaten and Aspas was a leader and best performer for them. Celta really turned it around, when last year they were nearly relegated. Aspas got a contribution in every game they played and only reason why I think he’ll miss on an award – it’s because he’s Aspas and plays for not popular club.
His potential card would be 88. It’d be a decent striker option and would be kinda cheap one too. His IF worth around 50k due to him being expensive fodder for Icon SBCs, but this card would be nearly same price in my opinion. To many people it’s just a fodder and I don’t think it should be more than 50k. Aspas card was a season reward for this month too, talk about Season Rewards being useless.
Chances of POTM: 25%
The last potential winner is Jules Kounde. Kounde was sensational for Sevilla. They won 3 out of 5 games, in those 3 games Sevilla kept 3 CS, Kounde was amazing in all of them, even in a loss vs Real Madrid. Kounde is a big surprise of the season and he’s very hyped in FIFA due to his RTTF.
His card would be 86. It’d be higher than RTTF for now and would worth quite a lot: his IF is 70k, so I expect this card to be around 150-200k. French, with some amazing links and stats. Also there was Showdown Acuna that would boost his chances for an award.
Chances of POTM: 30%
I think Benzema will win it. He deserves it, but personally I’d want Kounde. Just because of tucked in shirt. I’m joking. Benzema deserves an award and should win it quite comfortably.
