FIFA 19 Premier League TOTS Predictions
Hello, guys, this is Tillian and today I start my yearly cycle of TOTS Predictions.
As always I’ll start with Premier League because it’s one of the most hyped leagues and PL TOTS comes out first.
There’re 8 games in Premier League left, so there will be some changes in the final team due to changes in the table.
Of course, keep in mind, that those are predictions. I tried to make them not-biased as possible. And I know that there’re too many candidates that deserve the spot in TOTS, but I didn’t include. Understand me: There’re 23 players in a team and usually 1 player in Weekly Objective. So 24 in Total. I know, that there are much more players that performed well and we might get few SBCs or more than 1 Weekly Objective to make people happier.
So, let’s start this.
I’ll try to go by position, so it’s easier to understand my thoughts and I’ll try to give you some alternatives for each spot that can feature in final team.
Goalkeepers:
Starting GK: Alisson. He’s been a huge signing for Liverpool. Yes, he did 2 mistakes that lead to goals: vs Leicester away and Fulham away. He kept most Clean Sheets in the league atm and makes Liverpool defense much better.
Alternative: David De Gea. Was crucial many times for United, but made more mistakes this season than usual. Can still feature in, because he performed amazingly in some games, like Spurs away.
Bench GK: Lukasz Fabianski. Most saves this season by a big margin. Strangely he didn’t have any IF, but he deserves to be in TOTS. Really great goalkeeper and one of the signings of the season for West Ham.
Alternative: Ederson or Ben Foster. Ederson was really good this season, maybe even better than the last one. Plus he had few assists to his name. Ben Foster been amazing and consistent for Watford. Can see any of those 5 GKs feature.
Defenders:
Let’s start with obvious choices: Virgil Van Dijk and Aymeric Laporte are the best defenders in the league. Laporte is really underrated and he’s been playing on few positions, not just CB. Both are miles above the rest of the league.
I don’t even have alternatives for them, because they are 1000% locks.
Bench CBs: Fabian Schar and Viktor Lindelof. For me those 2 are the best from the rest Central defenders. Lindelof been the most consistent and probably crucial defender for United, while Schar been amazing under Rafa Benitez. Plus Schar scored some important goals too.
Alternatives for them: Sokratis and Shane Duffy. Sorkatis been a good signing for Arsenal and with him Arsenal’s defense is much better. Problem with him is: I’d include him and see him getting TOTS if Arsenal will finish top-4. If they’ll miss out – I doubt that.
Shane Duffy scored a lot of important goals for Brighton and probably their best player this season. Brighton will survive again and Duffy can get TOTS, but he’s not really hyped player in real life and that might be a deciding factor.
Moving on to Right-Backs: Aaron Wan-Bissaka. One the breakthrough stars of the season. Most tackles from a defender. Only few players passed through him. And should be nominated for Youth Player of the year.
Bench RB: Matt Doherty. Really consistent player for Wolves, scored 3 goals and got 4 assists. Wolves surprised many of the players and Doherty one of their best players. I’ll mention few more players from Wolves later on.
Alternative RBs: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Pereira. Roberto Pereira is consistent performer for Leicester and with James Maddison probably the best player of Leicester this year. Why is he missing in my predictions? Because other 2 were better throughout the season in my opinion.
Trent Alexander-Arnold been amazing for Liverpool. He got a lot of assists to his name, but in my opinion, due to a lot of the games missing, he’ll just miss out on TOTS.
Left-backs are a bit easier to choose this year.
Starting LB: Andrew Robertson been an amazing performer for Liverpool and he’s an engine of a team. His connection with Sadio Mane can be compared to Alaba and Ribery in Bundesliga. Also he has 8 assists to his name and it’s really impressive.
Bench LB: There was a debate for me between Ben Chilwell and Lucas Digne. I opted for Chilwell, because I decided against Pereira at Right-Back position. Chilwell been consistent performer for Leicester, also he recorded few assists to his name.
Lucas Digne: In my opinion one of the most under-rated players in Premier League. He got 3 goals and 4 assists, and, I can see him getting TOTS. It’s 51% for Chilwell and 49% for Digne in my opinion.
Moving on to Midfielders: Right midfielder is easiest position to choose, because there is only 1 main choice. Raheem Sterling. Too good this season. 15 goals and 9 assists in 24 games. As LW and RW. Player of the Year contestant and probably has big chance to win it too.
If we count Salah as RW – then he’ll be there at RW spot too.
No alternatives IMO, because RW is one position that been lacking good performances this year.
Left midfielder. It’s a meme position. Honestly. A lot of players that perform well at LM spot.
Starting LM: Eden Hazard: 13 goals and 11 assists. This year he’s been the best Chelsea player and often carries the team. Sometimes he’s too egoistic, but still the only 1 player that got 11+ goals and assists in Prem (yet).
Bench LMs: Sadio Mane and Felipe Anderson. Anderson been named by most of the fans one of the signings of the season and surprisingly to me he started to perform in Premier League really soon. 8 goals and 4 assists over the course of the season. Debatable pick, but still see him getting it.
Sadio Mane scored 17 goals at the moment too and carries Liverpool in February and March, scoring a lot of goals and performing amazingly well from game to game.
Alternatives: Ryan Fraser. Instead of Anderson we might get Ryan Fraser. Been the best Bournemouth player with 6 goals and 10 assists. He had a bit of a slump closer after New Year, so that’s why he’s missing in my main TOTS predictions, but we might get him as Weekly Objective player.
Central Midfielders. It’s a bit harder, because there’re different positions in central of the pitch.
At first: Defensive midfielders. Starting player should be Fernandinho. Even though he’s getting a little bit older and missing more games this season – he’s still an insane player and controlling games for City really well.
Bench CDM: Lucas Torreira. He started amazingly well for Arsenal, but then due to rotations and few average games fallen off a bit, but still he’s top 3-4 players in that position in my opinion.
Alternative choices: Declan Rice. A new England International. Been another break through star this season. 3rd West Ham player would be too much in my opinion, that’s why he just missed out on TOTS.
Granit Xhaka is consistent performer for Arsenal and improved his game a lot. Been praised a lot this year and can see him getting into TOTS over Torreira. I asked followers and it was really close between those 2.
Central Midfielders: Starting player is Paul Pogba. The best season for Pogba in England mostly due to Mourinho sacking. After Solskajer appointment – Pogba starting to perform amazingly well like he should be. 11 goals and 9 assists from CMCAM spot. Should be getting TOTS if United finish season strongly.
Bench CM: Bernardo Silva. What a player. Replaced KDB due to Belgium international being injured a lot and he replaced him perfectly. Praised a lot by fans, pundits and coaches might even get a starting spot, but I decided for 4-4-2 formation, that’s why he’s on the bench. Not that it matters a lot. But still.
Alternatives: Joao Moutinho and Gylfi Sigurdson. Moutinho is amazing this season for Wolves and a lot of people named him to be in TOTS and I can see him getting it, but I have no idea instead of who. Plus 3rd Wolves player would be a lot for a team that gonna finish 7th or a bit lower.
Gylfi Sigurdson with Digne and Richarlison the best players in Everton. Gylfi scored 12 goals but a lot of them were from penalty spot. But still, as always, Siggy can be 24th player in TOTS.
Strikers: Here we go, lads. 5 players (can be more) and a lot of debates.
Let’s see who are 100% in TOTS: Sergio Aguero. Sergio carries City often, especially in big games. 18 goals and 6 assists. One of the contenders for POTY award and just amazing striker.
Well, that’s all in terms of 100%.
Mohammed Salah scored 17 goals and got 7 assists. Yes, he’s getting a lot of hate this year, due to not getting the same numbers as the last season, but last season was exceptional, this one is still really good. Yes, he missed some crucial chances, that can deny Liverpool title, but still he must be in TOTS.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. 17 goals and 4 assists. A lot of debate, but still in my opinion would be deserving TOTS. If he’ll get 20+ goals this year – he’ll 100% get in TOTS.
Harry Kane or Heugn-Min Son or both. Kane missed a lot of games and after he came back from injury Spurs lost a lot of games, but he scored 17 goals and 4 assists. That’s the same number as Auba. If I include Auba – Kane should be in the team too.
Son can get into TOTS, but in my opinion, that wouldn’t be as deserving as last year. He had few insane months, but in terms of whole season – debatable. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’ll get a TOTS.
And the last pick: I went with Raul Jimenez. 12 goals and 6 assists and he’s been an exceptional pair with Diego Jota upfront for Wolves. Few alternatives for Jimenez: Richarlison with 12 goals and 1 assist, Vardy with 12 goals and 4 assists, Lacazette with 12 goals and 7 assists.
I know that FUT users would prefer Lacazette or Richarlison over Jimenez, but I’m trying to make it more “In Real Life”-based selection and you can disagree with me.
So that’s TOTS Predictions for Premier League done. Bare in mind that there are few games left and few players can go and perform really well.
I really hope that you enjoy reading it and find my arguments reasonable. As always I’ll discuss my decisions on Twitter and will try to reply as many people as possible.
