FIFA 16 Team of the Week Predictions: Week 2
Happy with 12/18 on the opening week of FIFA 16, let’s see if I can improve on that this week and I have a sneaking suspicion I may be able to do just that!
The new Thierry Henry?
No, I’m afraid he’s not. He’s Anthony Martial. He’s no one else, he will never be anyone else. Comprende? So can football stop with comparing youngsters to retired or aging players, it’s quite annoying. Now I’ve got that out of my system, onto his performance against Southampton. Picking up where he left off against Liverpool. he took both goals with aplomb; the level of coolness and composure that he showed was fantastic for a 19 year old. He left Virgil Van Dijk for dead for the first before picking up on a Maya Yoshida mistake and stroking the ball into the far corner for the second. There’s no doubt this kid is going to be a star and this is almost certainly not the last special item he’ll receive on FIFA 16. A quick word for Odion Ighalo too, who found the net again at Newcastle at the weekend but has had his spot plucked away from him by the young Frenchman
3-0 down after 15 minutes and down to 10 men? No problem!
If you’re CSKA Moscow that is – the Russians pulled off one of the most remarkable (and entertaining) comebacks in recent history against Mordovia Saransk. They’d had right-back Mario Fernandes sent off after 12 minutes and little over three minutes later were 3-0 down, but Seydou Doumbia and co. stepped up to the plate. I’ve opted for the Ivorian after scoring two and assisting two more, however any of himself, Ahmed Musa or Zoran Tosic could make the team; I wouldn’t be surprised to see Doumbia and Musa to be honest!
The Brazilian League is back with a bang
Those that knew me when I used to upload to YouTube will know that I have a love for Brazilian football, and nothing made me happier than when EA announced that the “Liga do Brasil!” would be returning to FIFA 16; minus Corinthians of course, ha! And I’ve included two players from the newly returning league in this weeks prediction. Former Borussia Dortmund and Montpellier striker Lucas Barrios came off of the bench for Palmeiras in midweek to net a quickfire hat-trick against struggling Fluminense, while Atletico-MG inflicted pain upon Fluminense’s fiercest rivals, Flamengo. Jesus Datolo was the star of the show, scoring a world class goal and assisting two more, however I feel EA will include centre-back Jemerson instead. He scored two of Galo’s four goals on the night and is a far more realistic option than Datolo given the high quality of midfield performances this week.
Enjoy Folks! #PACKPARTY
