FIFA 16 Team of the Week Prediction: Week 28
Normally I’d be happy with predicting 17/23 correctly, which was the case last week. However, we really should’ve been hitting 19 or even 20 and if it weren’t for a couple of poor selections on my part, we would’ve comfortable achieved that last week.
Record Breaker!
It won’t be the first record he’s broken and it certainly won’t be the last, but Gianluigi Buffon further cemented himself in footballing history over the weekend after not conceding a goal for 974 minutes of football; a Serie A record! He may have conceded in Juventus’ comfortable 4-1 victory over neighbours Torino, however Andrea Belotti could only score the penalty which would end his streak over 40 minutes after the record had been broken. At the opposite end of the pitch, Alvaro Morata came off of the substitute bench for the injured Paulo Dybala in the first half and scored twice. EA might be feeling that the Spaniard was a little hard done by after it turned out his magnificent run against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week was in vain, and could duly reward him with his first special item of FIFA 16!
A Sevilla case a homesickness
That appears to be what the European chasing southern Spaniards are suffering from. Sevilla have managed 13 home wins from 15 in La Liga this season, however they’re still yet to win away from home; and it’s March! Their undesirable away record grew ever longer at the weekend as they came up against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Things were only ever going to one way, especially after Karim Benzema’s opening goal after six minutes, however they still managed to give the Spanish giants a bit of a scare. Keylor Navas was at his very best against, saving a Kevin Gameiro penalty when the score was only 1-0; an intervention which was surely crucial in the outcome of the match.
