FIFA 16: FIFPro World XI TOTY Prediction
The 11th January is the day all FUT fans need to put in their diary because that is the day of the 2015 FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala, where the FIFPro World XI for the past year will be announced. I’m sure most that FIFA fans know about what happens in the week following the Gala, but for those that don’t, it’s safe to say everything turns a bit blue!
Goalkeeper and Defenders
Are often the trickiest players in the FIFPro World XI to predict, take the inclusion of David Luiz and Thiago Silva last year as a prime example. This year is no different and a whole host of names could make up the back four, however I’d argue it’s safe to say that goalkeeping spot is going to Bayern Munich and Germany shot-stopper Manuel Neuer for the second year running. He could also be joined by his teammate, Jerome Boateng, for me the most complete central defender in the world and has had another impressive season for Bayern Munich. After reaching the Champions League final it would be harsh not have a representative from Juventus in the side and I’ve opted for Giorgio Chellini, who also oversaw Juventus winning another Serie A title. The final two defenders are both from the side that beat Juventus in the final and dominate this World XI Prediction, Barcelona. Right-back Daniel Alves put a couple of mediocre seasons behind him to have a fantastic 2015, as did Gerard Pique, who for the tail end of the 2014/15 season especially was imperious.
Midfielders
Barcelona claim another two of the three spots allocated to midfielders in this prediction; some may argue they could have all three. Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta are the two I’ve opted for, the former a sometimes overlooked linchpin in Barcelona’s machine, the latter needs no introduction. He’s been doing it for years has Iniesta; the highlight of his 2015 being named as the Man of the Match in the Champions League final. Don’t worry, I’ve not forgotten about Barcelona’s arch rivals Real Madrid, and their first of two representatives comes in the form of attacking midfielder James Rodriguez. The Colombian has had a fruitful year for Los Blancos, however his bid for a place amongst the elite may be hindered after a poor Copa America.
Forwards
Two of these three spots pick themselves and don’t really need explaining. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are both shoe-ins, as you’d expect. Which is the better footballer and which is going to win the 2015 Balon d’Or? That’s a discussion for another day. The question is though, is who is going to joint them? Since 2008 the honour has fallen to the likes of Fernando Torres, Wayne Rooney, David Villa, Radamel Falcao, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and, most recently, Arjen Robben. I feel there’s going to be a new name on the block this year though and that name is going to be Neymar. The Brazilian has been starting to show what he can do at Barcelona over the past 18 and months and there’s certainly more to come. A word to Luis Suarez though, who could very well be in Neymar’s spot come the 11th January.
Enjoy folks and having a wonderful Christmas! #PACKPARTY #FUTMAS
