Fantasy FUT Fabian - Spend or Swerve

POSITIVES & NEGATIVES

Positives

• Fabian has good height and a High and Average body type which meant I found when going into a tackle he often came out with the ball

• I found his passing to be superb, his short passing especially was noticeably good and he has a great range of passing

• For a player who is 6’2” with a High & Average body type he dribbles really well, it isn’t like a small and lean body type player but for a taller player he feels really smooth on the ball

• He has the Outside Foot Shot and Finesse Shot trait, these was a great benefit to have as he also has 90 Long Shots so it allows some seriously nice goals from range

• 4* Skill Moves is really nice to have as a midfielder

• 4* Weak Foot is also a big positive as anything lower can be restrictive at times

• He has great links, being able to link to PSG players is very nice and giving Flashback Sergio Ramos that perfect link is a huge positive

Negatives

• Fabian only has 78 Sprint Speed and an overall 81 Pace which some people might consider quite low, but the 85 Acceleration does balance this out a little

• M/M work rates are not ideal for a central midfielder, I would have like to have seen him with a high defensive work rate

• Considering he is 6’2” he is quite average in the air, this is linked to his 49 Jumping and 72 Heading Accuracy

• He has 82 Balance which isn’t super low, however a tall player with Balance around that number might not appeal to some

• 375K is expensive for the current version of the card, however I do I understand this cost has considered the potential upgrade path for Fabian

FUT FANTASY UPGRADE POSSIBILITES

Here is how Fabian could possibly look if he was to receive all his FUT Fantasy upgrades.

I personally expect him to receive 2 upgrades minimum, these will be for:

• 1 Win in Next 6 Games

• 3 Appearances in Next 6 Games (Fabian has featured 5 times in PSGs last 6 games)

This will take him to a 90 rated card.

He also has a great chance of getting an additional upgrade for:

• Avoids Defeat in Next 6 games

This will then take him to a 91 rated card.

The final upgrade for getting 2 goals or Assists could be difficult as looking at his previous matches he doesn’t really contribute in either goals or assists, but you never know, however I would consider this upgrade unlikely.

For a bit of context, Fabian has played 17 games in Ligue 1 and has 1 goal and 1 assist.

So for me, I expect Fabian to be a 90 minimum, but there is a very high chance at a 91 and a very very small chance at a 92.

PLAYER COMPARISONS – IS HE BETTER THAN? – THIS 88 VERSION (Ligue 1 CMs)

It is important to note this comparison is based off the current 88 rated Fabian version, not his potentially upgraded cards

Showdown Soler – 209K (Expired SBC)

• Both of these cards have great qualities, Soler has the extra Pace and Passing with a 5* Weak Foot, whereas Fabian has the better Defending and Dribbling with 4* Skill Moves. Soler is more suited a bit further up the field than Fabian

• Who would I choose, and why?

  • I would choose Fabian, the reason being he offers more defensively but if I was looking for an attacking CM I would choose Soler

TOTY Honourable Mentions Fofana – 171K (Expired SBC)

• Fofana’s main strength is his Physicality, he is significantly stronger than Fabian and is more suited to an outright CDM role. Fabian is pretty much superior in all other areas, in my opinion making him the better card.

• Who would I choose, and why?

  • I would choose Fabian, he offers more versatility and is generally a much better card.

Future Stars Thuram – 168K (Expired SBC)

• Thuram is slightly better than Fabian from a defensive perspective, he is also considerably stronger, meaning he is much more suited to the CDM position than Fabian. Fabian’s strength lies in the fact his pretty much superior in all attacking aspects, and he also has the 4* SM and 4* WF which Thuram does not.

• Who would I choose, and why?

  • I would choose Fabian, as mentioned he is far superior in all offensive areas

OTW Sanches – 638K

• Sanches is noticeably quicker and stronger than Fabian and also has the 4* SM and 4* WF that Fabian does, however Fabian is better in all other areas,

• Who would I choose, and why?

  • I would choose Fabian, as Sanches only really has the pace and physicality advantage over Fabian, whereas Fabian is a much more complete card.

RATINGS

VERDICT

Fabian actually surprised me with how well he played in game, he has a big presence in the midfield and with his great passing and good dribbling he was pretty much everything I could have asked for from my centre midfielder, he also managed to pop up with some long range goals which was nice.

The few negatives about this card are his work rates and the fact he didn’t win many headers in the middle, but other than that he was extremely solid and I didn’t really notice the low-ish pace.

I fully expect this card to go to a 90 rated card minimum and possibly a 91, if you then add into the fact that he plays for PSG too and he was part of the mini release so he has had a few days less supply you start to see why this card is 375K.

Personally I don’t think this version of the card is worth 375K, but as with all FUT Fantasy cards it appears the upgrade potentials are already considered within the price and this will likely be a trend for all the FUT Fantasy cards.

Overall I think this card performed absolutely superb for me and when he goes to a 90 he really is going to be superb and I look forward to using him, there is a chance he is going to be part of my main team now going forward.

From a price perspective he is definitely on the expensive side, but there are lots of factors dictating this which I have covered, so if you are looking for a great box to box CM with great links to PSG and will potentially upgrade to a 90+ than Fabian could be for you.

For me, I would have liked to have seen the price of this card if it wasn’t part of the mini release but I can see this card being an absolute midfield machine, so it is going to be a SPEND!
