As the launch of EA SPORTS FC25 approaches, this year’s instalment introduces a range of new features, ranging  from new a game mode to an improvement in player IQ to simple quality of life changes. Here is a list of some new features coming to FC25.

Rush (5v5)

Rush is an exciting new game mode coming to FC25. In this 5v5 format, you team up with three other players and one AI-controlled player to compete against another team of five.

FC IQ

This is the most significant change to tactics in a decade, bringing modern football strategies into FC. It uses real-world data to drive authenticity and give players more control over their teams. This represents a major overhaul of the existing tactics, player roles, and formations from previous years.

PlayStyles

In FC25, EA will continue to build on the success of PlayStyles introduced in FC24. PlayStyles promote player individuality and authenticity and this year EA will be introducing 6 new Goalkeeper PlayStyles.

These are, Footwork, Rush Out, Deflector, Cross Claimer, Far Throw and Far Reach

Core Gameplay – Professional Foul

A brand new core gameplay mechanic is being added to the game called the Professional Foul, this can be triggered using RB/R1 + A/X

This mechanic is essentially where you purposely foul your opponent to neutralise your opponents attack. This mechanic will result in a guaranteed yellow card, however multiple uses of this will see your player get a red card.

Goalkeeper Movement

EA are making changes to manual goalkeeper movement. In FC25, keepers can only be manually moved 1-2 steps in any direction, with a short cooldown period after use to prevent this move from being overused repeatedly

During set pieces like corner kicks and free kicks, GK manual movement will function as it has previously

Skill Moves

In FC25, there will 5 new skill moves added to the game, these are: Toe Drag Stepover, Big Feint, Step Over Ball, Heel Nutmeg and the Drag Turn

Season Pass

A new season pass is being added to the game that spans across Ultimate Team, Clubs and Career mode. This new season pass allows you to earn progress for all of these game modes, regardless of what mode you choose to play.

This season pass will have rewards for all of the different game modes, meaning if you choose to play Ultimate Team you can still be earning rewards for your Clubs team and vice versa.

Ultimate Team

There are lots of new additions coming to ultimate team, some new features and some small quality of life changes that the community have been requesting so here they are.

  • Expansion of Evolutions
    • Open Entry Requirements – More players will be able to be compared to FC24
    • Evolve More Players – 7x more players
    • Evolve Visuals – Card visuals can be upgraded including animations, backgrounds and even sound effects.
  • Duplicate Storage
    • EA are introducing a storage system for Untradable Duplicate Players. You can send and keep up to 100 items in your SBC storage, and easily recall these players from a new tab in every SBC.
  • Friendlies Matchmaking
    • Matchmaking in Friendlies to be based on your win form. You will now be matched against opponents who have won or lost as many games as you have in Friendlies, creating a more level playing field
  • Rivals Rewards
    • Qualifying for rewards in Rivals will now be done by earning points rather than wins. Points will be earned for both wins and draws, 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw
  • Division Rivals Relegations
    • EA confirmed that they will be bringing back relegation when competing in the highest divisions. We believe that this is for division 1 and 2 only.
  • Contracts
    • Player Items and Managers will no longer need contracts, this means contracts are being removed from the game.
  • Corner Kick Support assignments
    • Three new assignments related to Corner Kick support have been added to FC25
      • Target Player – The assigned player will be the focus of the Corner Kick (Only available for  Attacking Corners).
      • Near Post – The assigned player will be positioned on the first post, or near it during a Corner
      • Back Post – Assigned player will be positioned on the back post, or near it during a Corner

This is not an extensive list, only a high level of some of the new features and changes coming to FC25 and I am sure we will be able to add to this the more news comes out over the coming weeks.
