Eduardo Camavinga FC Versus Fire and Ice Player Review

This week’s player review is a little bit different as it’s only on one player, but two different versions. FC Versus brings two types of cards; Fire and Ice, so this felt like the perfect opportunity to compare two cards. I took Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga into weekend league and played 10 games with each version of his new cards.

I was very happy with how my weekend league went this week as I managed to get 16 wins with a game to spare. Considering I’ve been struggling to get 14 wins in recent weeks, I was delighted to get 16. After my first 10 games, I was 9-1 whilst using the Fire version of Camavinga. In my remaining games I finished 7-2 before giving my final game away whilst using the Ice version of Camavinga.

Formation and Tactics Used:

For both teams I used the 4-3-2-1 and followed FUTWIZ Mark11’s custom tactics which can be found here: https://www.futwiz.com/en/fc24-tutorial/4321-custom-tactics

Camavinga Fire Version (LB)

My team:

Camavinga’s Instructions (LB)- Balanced, Overlap

I was really impressed by Camavinga’s performance in the first 10 games of champs. I normally have Ferland Mendy at left-back, so this was a direct swap and it was definitely an upgrade. Camavinga was my attacking full-back and he was constantly involved, getting himself 4 assists which is a decent sum.

Positives:

-Camavinga’s dribbling was very good. I often dribbled down the by-line using the controlled sprint to try and create a cutback, and Camavinga was brilliant at doing this. Some of his best dribbling stats include 90 ball control and 85 agility

-Defensively, Camavinga was very solid. He intercepted the ball a lot and even though his defensive stats don’t look the best, I found him to be defensively reliable. He has 83 interceptions and 86 stand tackle, but I applied a shadow to him which boosted these stats.

-The Frenchman has the Aerial+ PlayStyle which allowed him to be more effective in the air. A lot of times when I was faced with a back post cross from my opponent, Camavinga defended the situation by heading the ball away, and this was due to him having the Aerial+ PlayStyle.

Negatives:

-This is definitely a minor negative, but his shooting in the box isn’t too good. As my attacking full-back, Camavinga found himself with a lot of space when I switched the play, so I found myself with shooting with him quite often. However, he never scored which was quite frustrating.

-Camavinga only has a 3* weak foot which again, personally I don’t find a massive issue, but it would have been nice if this was upgraded. If he had a higher weak foot, I would feel more confident on his right foot and he would be less predictable to defend against.

Camavinga Ice Version (CDM)

My team:

Camavinga’s Instructions (CDM)- Stay Back, Cover Center

If I’m being honest, I didn’t have the highest expectations before using this card as I knew my final 10 games would be very tough, but I was pleasantly surprised with Camavinga’s performance. The Frenchman managed to get 3 assists from defensive midfield which is a very good payout.

Positives:

-Camavinga was a very strong tackler and he was really solid at the root of my midfield. He held down the middle of the park exceptionally well and stopped a lot of counter attacks with his hard challenges. Camavinga has 89 stand tackle and 86 interceptions

-I was confident dribbling with Camavinga due to his nice dribbling stats and the benefit of 4* skills move. One of the key positives to this card is that he has 90 ball control which is excellent. If I was under pressure whilst the ball was at his feet, he had the capabilities to turn and escape a dangerous scenario.

-Camavinga’s passing was extremely accurate and he rarely missed a pass. I liked to collect the ball with him and play a driven pass out to my wingers, and Camavinga dealt with this really well. He has 91 short pass and 90 long pas, meaning his range of passing is excellent.

Negatives:

-I’m someone who likes to play with a bigger and more physical CDM, so I would have liked if Camavinga was more physical. He didn’t bully many people off the ball and most of the time he won the ball back through interceptions or 1v1 tackles. However, his physical stats can be boosted with a chemistry style such as an anchor.

-Due to Camavinga having High/High work rates, he ran out of stamina quite quickly and normally I would have needed to sub him off. The Real Madrid man only has 82 stamina which ran down quite quickly, so it would have been nice if this was upgraded.

Verdict

Both cards really impressed me this weekend so it’s a tough choice to pick between the two. They also both slot perfectly into my team, so I’d happily use either as I found them both to be quite good. However, if I had to only choose one card, it would be Camavinga’s Fire version. I really liked him as a left-back and a lot of my attacks came through him. Due to the meta of attacking full-backs this year, I found he was much more beneficial in this position than in the middle of the field. If his Ice version had better physical stats, I would have said go for that, but for now, in my opinion, I would recommend the FC Versus Fire version.
